Tanglewood is fun though...a nice relaxing vibe there. I think we're going to go see Arlo Guthrie with the Boston Pops there in July instead.
The Boston Garden show sold out quickly I heard. I'm glad I got mine early!
It was VERY crowded last year, I think we'll get there early and grab a bite to eat at the site so the trek back to the car is manageable after the show.
I'm seeing the Pops the night before JT. I really enjoy that place.
Glad you got tix for Boston!

BUT they dropped the ropes at the end and folks from the lawn came in and I moved down to within a few feet of the stage. It was great.
My brother & his wife were at Kripalu, up the hill, and wandered down to the edges, and eventually onto the lawn and right up into the seats.... that's pretty friendly! They said it was a great show.

Yeah, since the best I could do was Sec 9 even with presale, I'm hoping that happens again!

Finally! The concert was last night . . . one of the best ever! Both of them were in fine voice (I think JT's voice is as good as it ever was, Carole can't quite hold a note like she usedta). http://blog.seattlepi.com/raisedonrock/ ... 205299.asp
I took the pictures with my cell phone, so they ain't too great, but I think the twin spot lights were kinda cool . . .

Thanks so much! Good to know about her voice because I found a fairly recent youtube video and YIKES her voice was very very rough. Maybe it was just a bad day.
Glad you enjoyed it. I have to wait til July.

i saw this show tuesday may 11. i bought my ticket on tm the day of the show. any body with extras were having a fire sale on craigslist. prices were down to $20 in some cases. for me, it was part snooze fest, alho i was familiar with most of the songs and then it also rocked. i have seen j t one time and enjoyed that show. i had never seen carol king, so i figured now was the time. russ kunkle, who i think has produced a few jimmy albums is the drummer for this tour.

A lot of James Taylor and Carole King fans felt the earth move Sunday night (May 9) at KeyArena. The iconic songwriters who wrote and recorded some of the most beloved music of 1970s performed more than two hours of classic hits during the Seattle stop of their celebrated Troubadour Reunion Tour." It was a powerful, uplifting and sometimes inspiring concert fueled by the duo's natural chemistry.

Even before a note was played Sunday night in KeyArena, the Carole King/James Taylor concert was an evening of memories. That was due to the personal history the sold-out crowd had with each hit, but also to a montage of 40-year-old photographs that began the concert. And if the crowd applauded photos, imagine the roar when the two musicians appeared.
Yet for a three-hour show, the most memorable moments were nonmusical ones. They came when Taylor and King looked at each other with admiration, exchanged smiles, or when King laid her head on Taylor's shoulder at the end of "You Can Close Your Eyes."
The stellar band included guitarist Danny Kortchmar, drummer Russ Kunkel and bassist Leland Sklar. They are essentially the band on the albums "Tapestry" and "Sweet Baby James."

I'm heading to the JT/CK show in Philly on June 22. My wife got me the tickets for father's day. I wasn't that excited to go but after reading your reviews I think I'm warming up to the idea.....

I suppose it kinda depends on how old you are and where you've come from and where you've been.... If you're old enuff to have grown up with JT and CK, and you listened to them as you grew up, you'll enjoy the concert. I bought my first JT album in 1969 and have bought every album/CD he's put out since. Their music was a big part of the soundtrack of my youth (along with Buffett, Garfunkel, the Eagles, etc.). Every song they played brought back memories for us. There were a few youngsters around us and we heard comments like "I remember my parents playing that song when I was little." Memories, but not quite the same. If you're old enuff, but listened to Aerosmith, and Queen, and Slade in the 70's, well . . . . . . Let us know next month what you think . . . .

The original Troubador concert is on PBS right now. I just love JT - maybe because it was the soundtrack to my college years I don't know. But I'm getting excited all over again about seeing them for my birthday in July at one of my favorite venues. (of course I have Jimmy to look forward to in 2 short weeks!)
If anyone is interested this will be on a variety of PBS stations at a variety of times so check your local stations.

I bought JT/CK Troubadour the CD/DVD package and have really enjoyed it a few times already. Neat that they are playing the original on PBS all of June. Gotta see if I can catch it.
You've Got A Friend is awesome during that LIVE show...as well as You Can Close Your Eyes...
I also have collected all of JTs stuff, but didn't start until Gorilla came out. I guess that was around 1977. It's my favorite.
Please keep giving your reports when y'all get to see them!!

I did catch the Live at the Troubadour on pbs. There were some neat comments about the video made during the fundraising promotion.
I thought you meant that there was an original show from the 70/71 on pbs...it is the Original Show from Live At The Troubadour from 2007 50th Anniversary show.
Watching those two sure brings back memories. Great stuff! Make me wanna grab some tickets and go to MGM Las Vegas.

Went to the JT/CK show last week in Charlotte. It was fantastic!! I have seen JT several times but never CK. She was recovering from a cold so her voice was a little raspier than usual but she's still got it. She is amazing and to think she is 68 years old!!
The in the round stage took a little getting used to but I thought is was OK. Jumbo screens above insured you didn't have to watch their backside. He was good as usual. He is funnier than most people think.

I love JTs sense of humor. Very dry wit indeedy. Glad you got to see them Jill54.
They did a great job of putting the Live DVD together. I can't tell if it is pieces from different shows or just straight through one show.
Here is So Far Away from 1971...not with the same band NOR at The Troubadour...but a classic performance...stellar...
So far away
Doesn't anybody stay in one place anymore
It would be so fine to see your face at my door
Doesn't help to know you're just time away
Long ago I reached for you and there you stood
Holding you again could only do me good
Oh, how I wish I could
But you're so far away
One more song about moving along the highway
Can't say much of anything that's new
If I could only work this life out my way
I'd rather spend it being close to you
But you're so far away
Doesn't anybody stay in one place anymore
It would be so fine to see your face at my door
Doesn't help to know you're so far away
YEAH...you're so far away...
Traveling around sure gets me down and lonely
Nothing else to do but close my mind
I sure hope the road don't come to own me
There's so many dreams I've yet to find
But you're so far away
Doesn't anybody stay in one place anymore
It would be so fine to see your face at my door
And it doesn't help to know you're so far away
Yeah, you're so far away...

While the concert was a little more laid back then I'm used too I have to say that their voices are still as good as they were years ago. I was dissapointed with Mexico JBs version is much better in my opinion. I enjoyed the rotating stage as we were the first few rows elevated off the floor, it provided great sight lines. I also have to say at 68 Carol King is smoking! Faith and I had a great time chilling listening to good music with good friends. What I did find funny is that they had advertisments for Flomax above the urinals in the mens room. I guess there were advertising to the clientel.

Saw them on July 3rd in MA. He is as smooth as ever and I had really forgotten what a wonderful and prolific songwriter she is. And the fact that someone who is 68 years old can still rock out in stiletto boots and a guitar was REALLY cool for this newly 58 year old!
