I agree with the people who said "Big Top". I felt the same way when I heard it the first time I played "Buffet Hotel" — this is a natural for an opener.
Or at least very early in the show, like maybe right *AFTER* the opener.
I even said something like that back here: viewtopic.php?f=1&t=79564&p=3603302&hil ... r#p3603302

I've been listening to Feeding Frenzy and I think "You'll never work in this bidness again" is a great opener that has not been used since 1990. Hmmm. Supposedly that album was taped in Cinci and Atlanta, but the song history does not show that it was ever played at either of those locations. Interesting. And then there is the fact that on the video Margaritavision, Jimmy says that Jamaica Farewell was taped at Great Woods. But the exact same version is on Feeding Frenzy. I know. Who cares? I just find these little discrepncies interesting.

I think the perfect song to open the shows of this next tour is a cover......Club Trini's "Come on In", it's upbeat, it's inviting and as Jimmy says at the end of it, "I've always liked that song" :D
I like!!! :D :D :D

I really hope Jimmy keeps Rhumba Man in too!!

I would love to hear "Island" as a final encore!!
Since you brought up a final encore, how about a song that he has written that refers to the area he's in.

And for Pittsburgh????? :wench:

For example, playing Railroad Lady in both Massachusetts and in Texas or Coast of Carolina when he is in the Carolinas.

Agreed!!! [smilie=beadygrinner.gif]
That is in the pre-show line up I think. I'm sorry, I'd miss "Hot Hot Hot" it's just come to symbolize FUN to me now.
It was fine for a few years, but to me it's just old now. Don't be sorry, it's what you like, Pam! :)
Since we've not seen him for many years, it just doesn't go over that well on RM as it might in person. :)
I actually love Hot, Hot, Hot so much I use it as my ringer on my cell phone.

I think Jimmy does a really good job picking the openers!

HOT HOT HOT is a necessity...live or on RM...

Who would've liked Homemade Music but it began to symbolize the start of the show that year...

same with On the Road Again and Lage Nom Ai...

Whatever he picks, we will all associate with the Buffet Hotel Tour and I am sure that most of us will like it!! :D :D :D :D

For One Particular Reason!!!!

Ridin' on the City of New Orleans
Illinois Central, Monday mornin' rail
Fifteen cars and fifteen restless riders
Three conductors and twenty-five sacks of mail
All along the south-bound odyssey
The train pulls out at Kankakee
And rolls along past houses, farms and fields
Passin' trains that have no names
And freight yards full of old black men
And the grave-yards of the rusted automobiles

Good morning America, how are you?
Say don't you know me, I'm your native son
I'm the train they call the City of New Orleans
And I'll be gone five-hundred miles when the day is done

Dealin' cards with the old men in the club car
Penny a point ain't no one keepin' score
Pass the paper bag that holds the bottle
Feel the wheels grumblin' 'neath the floor
And the sons of Pullman porters, and the sons of engineers
Ride their father's magic carpet made of steel
Mothers with their babes asleep, rockin' to the gentle beat
And the rhythm of the rails is all they feel

Good morning America, how are you?
Say don't you know me, I'm your native son
I'm the train they call the City of New Orleans
I'll be gone five-hundred miles when the day is done

Night time on the City of New Orleans
Changin' cars in Memphis, Tennessee
Halfway home, we'll be there by mornin'
Thru the Mississippi darkness rollin' down to the sea
But all the towns and people seem to fade into a bad dream
And the steel rails still ain't heard the news
The conductor sings his songs again
The passengers will please refrain
This train has got the disappearin' railroad blues.

Goodnight America, how are you?
Say don't you know me, I'm your native son
I'm the train they call the City of New Orleans
I'll be gone five-hundred miles when the day is done

WHO DAT!!!!

If it is a new song, I am pulled in by "We learned to be cool from you". Something about that song pulls me in.
Come on guys, haven't we learned to be cool from Jimmy?
