Usually he calls and we discuss it, but lately he's been going out on his own...

Because God does not 'get' people, and that is a foreign concept to Mr. Robertson, among others. (I'm not attacking your post. I knew you were joshing.)
People who believe that God will seek retribution in this world against wrong-doers (and then presume to know who those wrong-doers are) have no understanding of Him and His ways.
Some dear friends of mine won a huge award in a suit against the Westboro Baptist Church and brought about an injunction against their demonstrations at funerals for veterans. The U.S. Supreme Court may 'get' you in this world, but God will wait patiently.

On the other hand, wasn't it in one of Jimmy's books where the people of the Caribbean called Haiti the "dark island"?

There is some serious bad mojo associated with the place.

I don't think so and I have visited there. Long time ago but the Haiti I remember was a very beautiful place once you got
out into the country side. We visited a Rum distillery, Churches and sat poolside for drinks at the El Rancho Hotel. The El Rancho was a destination Hotel in its day hosting Hollywood Celebrities and Politicians. They had suites named after many of them including the Kennedys.

Oh and Pat is a dick.

Oh and Pat is a dick.

I visited Haiti last Spring.....it was beautiful.
I don't know that I would necessarily call it bad mojo, just a cultural difference.
If bad mojo caused natural disasters.....whole lotta folks would be in trouble!

Seems to me a lot of Haiti's more recent social problems can probably be traced back to the regime of President-for- Life François Duvalier ('Papa Doc'), the Tonton Macoutes, and Papa Doc's son, Jean-Claude Duvalier (a/k/a 'Baby Doc').

I wonder if this is the "Devil" that Robertson refers to, and he's just got his Haitian history screwed up. Even if it is, though, he's still talking out of his backside.

Bad mojo?? You seem to not remember your HISTORY. Where the heck do you think Christopher Columbus landed? It wasn't Miami, or Plymouth Rock it was HISPANOLA aka Haiti & the Dominican Republic. Do you even know why the US was able to complete the Louisiana Purchase?? It was because of the slave revolt agains France IN HAITI. I bet you also think New Orleans got what they deserved also because of their history having voodo and black magic there.

I kinda doubt it since Robertson refers to the Hatian Slave revolt.

The Haitians enlisted the Devil's help in getting rid of their French overlords in the 19th century and this earthquake is God's retribution? What year is this - 1692?

The Pat Robertsons of the world would be fine entertainment if they didn't hold such strong sway among the ignorant and the powerful.

Only slightly less ignorant was Rush Limbaugh complaining, while the earthquake news was breaking, that this was unfortunately going to "play right into Obama's hands" and give Obama a golden opportunity to build up his reputation as some kind of "saviour", especially among African Americans.

They say animals can 'sense' an impending earthquake long before it hits. I don't know if that's true, but it does seem to me that natural disasters, in their aftermath, sure bring out the nutjobs, wackos and the criminally stupid.

Pat gives Christians a bad name sometimes. What he fails to realize is that there is a time to preach and there's a time to simply follow the example of Jesus and tend to the needs of the suffering.
