  and that took all of 10 seconds.
Don told me that he tried earlier and found out our carrier isn't honoring it (either that or he messed up   )

My response was that I spend more a week on my espresso so I wanted to give more.

According to this CBS News website (scroll down to the entry for 9:05 AM ET), more than $8 million has already been donated through this process.

Elsewhere on the page (see entry at 3:27 PM ET) the FAA has issued a "ground stop" (e.g., a "don't come here!" order) for all planes bound to Port-au-Prince from the US. It seems that there is no ramp space (at P-a-P) for more incoming flights; and more worrisome, no gas to refuel the planes for the return to the US.

However, with a seaplane, where there's water there's a runway. So Jimmy, break out the "Hemisphere Dancer", fill 'er up with supplies, and make sure the tanks are topped off!!
(Bet you don't get shot at this time, either!)

I did mine online too and got a company match. It took a few hours to get a confirmation, but it went through. A little patience isn't too much to ask.

Done, remarkably easy considering my cell doesn't usually work at my house.

I seriously hope that he's gonna type in "HAITI" a few THOUSAND times, don't you?

My hunch is that Jimmy will do a hell of a lot more than just text a few donations to the Red Cross. We will never know even half of what he may do to help. Besides, instead of wondering what Jimmy is going to do to help I think we need to think about what we can do to help.

I did the same thing, and my donation went through right away as well. I wish I could do so much more.
I'm having to mail mine so the company will match it. There are forms involved you know. :D
I did mine at the redcross website as well. I didn't want any delays as a result of collecting from Verizon.

I was hoping my company would match the donation. They did gift matching before their merger, but they don't do it anymore. Grrrr.

For those that won't do business with the Red Cross....like myself....there are other ways to help...

On Google's main screen there is a link to a donation page that has multiple agencies that are helping in relief efforts. Here's the link...

http://www.google.com/relief/haitiearthquake/

and the United Way has this program going on...

Give $5 Instantly to Help the Haitian People After the Devastating Earthquake: Text HAITI to 864833

To make an instant donation to help in Haiti, use your cell phone and text HAITI to 864833. It is instantaneous and easy, and your phone bill will be charged $5.

Our United Way Worldwide Core Crisis Team has been mobilized and is in contact with our Caribbean Regional Team to gather more information about the specific needs on the ground in Haiti, although there is not a local United Way in Haiti. However, you can make a safe and secure donation to Haiti Disaster Relief to our United Way Worldwide Disaster Fund. At that site, you will also find the address to mail a check. Act today! Money is desperately needed.

$10 is small. Most of us spend more than that at the local watering hole.
