With my latest, I brought in a design, they wanted to customize/personalize it to be more unique, so I came back a week later to ok the new and improved design, then set an appointment for a week later to get statrted. Still have to go back at some point (when I have the extra $$) to get it colored in. So, even though the tattoo obviously has to be done while I wait, maybe you could stretch the whole process and,....hell I don't know where I'm going with this. Doesn't even make sense to me. Of course a tattoo is done while you wait. Thought maybe I could justify the lyric, just ended up making myself confused

From a story about tattoo Charlie in Louisville, Kentucky:
http://www.legacy.com/obituaries/louisv ... d=94461702
Read the complete obituary
here:
Wheeler also recognized the value of a slogan he noticed on a sign in a
Florida tattoo studio in the late 1960s and "thought it was absolute
genius," said his son.
The elder Wheeler asked the owner's permission to borrow the slogan, "Done
While You Wait," before making it his own.
The original "Tattoo Charlie's: Done While You Wait" billboard along
Interstate 65 northbound between Elizabethtown and Louisville made the
business something of a Louisville icon.
There have been two other billboards at times, but the original is the only
one left and "absolutely" will remain, Buddy Wheeler said. "It's been on
Johnny Carson, Jay Leno, David Letterman."

Paige, I had always wondered about those lines in LSCN by Bruce Cockburn too. Seems there IS a story he tells in his shows about a billboard. In an interview he answered the question about the billboard advertising tattoos while you wait being in Missouri instead of Florida or Kentucky.
On the phrase “tattoos done while you wait” which appears in his new
song, Life Short Call Now. (Cockburn was inspired while driving
through Missouri): “All of a sudden there’s this big white billboard
with small print in the middle of it, that says, ‘Mike’s Tattoos,
done while you wait’ and a phone number. I thought, ‘That’s gotta be
in a song.’ “

Thank you for that, my dear!

Well then there is the irony/absurdity of such a statement, which I think is what Cockburn was really hinting at. It's funny.
