Will it actually snow on the beach and boardwalk again

If you live on the ocean you pretty much never get snow. My deck has been buried at least four times this year. But it looks like the real deal is coming again this weekend. What's your forecast?

There is nothing I hate more than the hype around a weather event in Philly.
5:00 news - Will there be a big storm? We'll tell you more at 5:30
5:30 - It looks like it could be a big one...check for updates at 6:00
6:00 - Things are setting up for a big storm...there are two scenarios. Tune in at 11:00 for an exclusive update.
11:00 - Here are the two options, we'll tell you the possible outcomes tomorrow.
Anyway 5-12 inches depending on the path.

hahahahaha, you nailed it. The only thing you left out is the run to the grocery store to get bread, milk and tp. Because we might possibly run out of these things in the day it takes for the snow to melt. Jersey shore is always iffy. Either the storm completely misses us, or we get slammed. It's been an unusual year because of the ocean temps.

The weather men must be crying in their drinks after last week. They totally missed that storm and had no big hype or build up.

If the weathermen call for a blizzard, we get zilch. It's when they call for a dusting we really need to be ready!

Dear expatriated Northerners living in my neck of the woods,
We get it. Ha ha ha.
1. "We can't handle snow." "Snow removal efforts are pathetic".
Coming from the north, you should know that, on average, we don't get this much snow, so less resources are made available to combat the 5-10 inches we may see in an average winter. That would be what we call *smart planning from a budgeting standpoint*. If we were in an average year could you, as a northerner, explain why we'd have so much idle equipment laying around?
2. "Toilet paper, milk, peanut butter and bread *grocery store* rushes".
Dudes. This is a myth that news stations love to perpetuate. I'm heading to the grocery store and pharmacy sometime today. I plan on picking up a couple of prescriptions and some superbowl munchies. Chips, salsa and beer. And some milk. I do have kids who would eat cereal 3 meals a day if they could.
3. "We don't know how to drive in snow".
See item # 1 above. If we lived in the arctic we'd all own radial snow tires, snowmobiles, snow chains, cross country skis, at least one 4WD vehicle and we'd all own snow throwers. We don't. It snows big time here too damb infrequently to waste our money on those (I do drive a 4WD truck though). We spent our money on golf clubs and vacations. We wait it out and munch on our chips and drink our beer until the roads are cleared.
YOU can't drive much better on our roads than we can in the snow. See #1 above again. The roads ain't cleared as well as your roads up north. We have the nation's 2nd worst traffic (behind Los Angeles) on clear sunny days. Of course its worse when we have snow. It's a fact. We deal with it. You should too or move back to the arctic. I'm tired of your complaints.
4. "The News Stations are all covering a little snow with full news teams deployed and 24/7 coverage like it's never happened before".
In the south it's exactly the same thing for hurricane coverage. In the mid-west ..... tornadoes. On the west coast it's fires. mudslides and earthquakes. What? Your arctic local news stations are better with their coverage of moose hunting accidents?
Sincerely,
SP

Dunno, I think I'd bump it up to 2 gallons of sangria.....

We got about 4-5 inches yesterday when they only predicted a "dusting".
Hope it holds off until late tomorrow as we have a funeral and graveside
service tomorrow.

Getting a little defensive there this morning, SP, are we? However, I do have to agree with everything you said — especially #3.
And if you ever were here in the Great White North during the first couple of snowstorms each season, you'd literally ROFLAO at the way some of the people up here — who were bred, born, and raised up here — drive. Far too many of 'em apparently forget over the course of the summer that snow is slippery and seem to think that the white stuff on the road is beach sand. If I had a dollar for every time I've seen someone come up to a traffic light or a stop sign at 30 mph, hit the binders, and slide right on through, I could tell the turkeys I work for to TTJASI (and mean it), and I'd be down there surfing the banks with you.

My forecast is, if we get the 1 to 2 feet of snow they are calling for, I'm not going anywhere this weekend. My kids hockey games and Cub Scout meetings will probably be cancelled. I will get to play with my kids outside in the snow, listen to them ask to play Wii when we are inside, hurt my back shoveling snow and then self medicate with beer and tequila. I am actually looking forward to all this.

Yup. Same deal here. Cub Scouts and Basketball games are scheduled .... but ......
I'm looking forward to doing a little snow driving on Saturday ... then playing with the kids outside a bit.

I'm sorry that you all are having to deal with what we usually have to deal with. Even up here the forecasters can't get it straight half the time. On Tuesday night Dave and I were discussing how the weather pattern has really shifted so that it's flat and doesn't curve up north to hit us. For years we have been getting storms just about every three days. I've been loosely keeping track ( yes, i'm a weather junkie). I'm thankful that we haven't gotten so many storms and maybe we'll have a better summer for once. I guess the weather gods have given us a break and shifted the torture to you all. Keep this in mind, while your spring will be here in March/April, we often still get storms and it's no warmer than the mid 40's (April). We'll be wearing layers and bundling up for months while you won't and signs of green will be popping up everywhere. Spring? What's that??
I feel your pain. Enjoy your weekend of leisure, go build a snowman/woman with a grass skirt!
( I don't intend for this to be a gripe. It's more an observation.)

18-24 inches here but certain people who heard from someone who knows somebody that works for the guvment said that 4 feet is possible and that they are not saying it to the public because they don't want to cause a panic.

I could make an attempt at my originally intended destination of Gettysburg for the weekend. But I'm coming from the south and could probably only fight my way north as far as your house before I got snowed in.
