For those of you that have or had any interest in the 33rd America's Cup it is finally about to happen. After nearly 3 years of shennigans and legal fights it finally returns to the water. Both the teams have been in Valencia, Spain for the past month. While the shennigans and the legal crap isn't over at least for the next few days sailing will be at the forefront.
Both teams Alinghi and USA 17 (BMWOracle racing/GGYC club) have magnificant sail boats. USA 17 is trimaran larger then a baseball diamond. USA 17 also has a wing sail that is 223 ft high!! There will be live coverage in the US available on the internet at several different links. Below is a video teaser with for the cup. I hope you enjoy.

Funny, I'm an avid sailor, but lost interest in the America's Cup after the 12 Meter era.......diverg wrote:For those of you that have or had any interest in the 33rd America's Cup it is finally about to happen. Today it's more about what team can outspend who for a boat, a team, and a staff of lawyers. The action on the water seems almost secondary......
On most days I say: "Wrinkles only go where the smiles have been...."
Sometimes I can only say: "There is no dumbass vaccine......"
If something or someone gets you down, just remember: "In a hundred years it all won’t matter.........."

I agree. I loved going to newport a few years ago and watching the start of the newport to bermuda, but these boats just look foolish.Bfan53again wrote:Funny, I'm an avid sailor, but lost interest in the America's Cup after the 12 Meter era.......diverg wrote:For those of you that have or had any interest in the 33rd America's Cup it is finally about to happen. Still, it's all a mystery,
This place we call the world
Most are fine as oysters
While some become pearls
