Re: An open letter to Mr. Buffett
I think that's how most clubs do it.
By "binding contract," I meant that they couldn't legally come to you and say "you have to pay or we'll take you to court." The clubs do, however, have internal mechanisms to encourage folks to follow through with their commitments.

Re: An open letter to Mr. Buffett
I believe our club will find out today what days the shows are and we'll have to commit (meaning pay) by Tuesday next week and then the club will "buy" the tix a day or so after that.
Life should NOT be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in an attractive and well preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways - Pinot Noir in one hand - chocolate in the other - body thoroughly used up, totally worn out, and screaming "WOO HOO"

OK since I am pretty Fluent in R2. I will take a stab at thisgingerbreadman wrote:Lucrative return at the gate... but who would blame any business-people/person for not trying to make money?RinglingRingling wrote: I can remember in years past (when I first joined the PHC) that there were a week or two between the contact of the regional coordinator and the actual req. of "we need x". By the time of the two Tampa shows during MOTM, that had dropped to 3-5 days. The management team was supposedly the reason for this. Any way I look at it, it seems as though it's a plan to gradually phase out the club seats for more lucrative return on the gate.
Jimmy does not get all that you paid!
Not a PHC member but it does seem that PHC members always think that they should be entiltled to tickets for whatever reason...
what He is saying is not " I am entitled to buying tix"
but rather " since you are offering tix please give us a date we can expect the show to take place before we spend money
and please give us a reasonable amount of Turnaround time
for the purchase"
remember that once purchased, the tix are in a low percentage of
resale area.. it must be a club member.. and in some clubs
if you sell to a member that did not have "points" to get their own
this could be seen as a way around the system. resulting in
your loss of tickets next time also if you sell to a non member..
the whole club might lose privilages next go round..

OK now that I am done translating.. here is my take..gingerbreadman wrote:Lucrative return at the gate... but who would blame any business-people/person for not trying to make money?RinglingRingling wrote: I can remember in years past (when I first joined the PHC) that there were a week or two between the contact of the regional coordinator and the actual req. of "we need x". in my club, we have more than a few members that... love them as I do, could not get tix any other way... really.. a Ticketmaster account,
the stress of typing in the "code" and the whole mess of the day of sale would rule them out..
these are pholks that only go to one or two concerts a year.. (if that)
who live in Boise Idaho where for most concerts have low low pressure for sales..
Or maybe they are season ticket holders for the "summer at the winery" series so once again the dog eat dog, day of sale
for a Jimmy Buffett show is just a little overwhelming..
in the few shows I have attended, I have used club seats..Once
but it is for the less than "sharky" members of my club (and brothers and sisters in other clubs" that I am grateful that the chance to
buy "club seats" exists..

I have given up on the tix bastard route, wait until the day of the show fully prepared to not go to the show, party my ass of in the parking lot and end up with really great seats at about half the price.

I really enjoy watching the scalpers get no bids when they price the tix at 6x face value. By the day of the show, they are taking anything the can get.

Come on man, you drove to Aspen didn't you?!?!SharkOnLand wrote:I'd be happy if he actually held a show within driving distance of my house.
I will say these two things to ya....Vegas and Texas aren't that far away.
Yes, it would be great to HOST a show, see who comes to join in the Colorado fun!!
Buying tickets in the lot has served me well a few times. It's kinda nice not having to worry if your ticket will get wet if you jump in the pool....if you don't buy it until show time, that's someone elses worry.PHritz 01 wrote:I have given up on the tix bastard route, wait until the day of the show fully prepared to not go to the show, party my ass of in the parking lot and end up with really great seats at about half the price.
How much was your Frisco ticket for 2008....ooh...sorry, too soon?
It would be very nice to know what dates Jimmy will be where. It would be best to have the dates set in concrete, but I know 'stuff' happens.
Frisco Feeding Frenzies I-V (+16 other shows)

Checking in was cheap, it was the check out that was expensive (but well worth it)~Hippolyte~ wrote:Come on man, you drove to Aspen didn't you?!?!SharkOnLand wrote:I'd be happy if he actually held a show within driving distance of my house.OK, so that was....what..??...three years ago.

Todd, easy solution:
Buy the tickets. if you can't make it, I'll gladly take them off your hands.

Pretty sure I'm still a member of the Virtual PHC. If not I'm sure I could find a club that would have me in time. (Of course, that begs the question of do I really want to join a club that would have someone like me as a member?RinglingRingling wrote:you a member in good standing of a PHC?popcornjack wrote:Todd, easy solution:
