I was trying to stay out of the water, but hey…

I protested the repubs abuse of power, abuse of the Commerce clause, insane over spending, a two tier system of laws (one for the citizens, one for the law makers) The Patriot Act, FISA laws, Lack of support for the Iran Freedom movement, The John Warner Act of 2006...

I now protest the dems abuse of power, abuse of the Commerce clause, insane over spending, a two tier system of laws (one for the citizens, one for the law makers) The Patriot Act, FISA laws, Lack of support for the Iran Freedom movement, The Interpol expanded role in the US, the proposed warrantless tracking of cell phones…

The only difference is who stands shoulder to shoulder with me. It seems to me that people’s beef in this country is not about abuse of power or abuse of OUR Constitution but who holds the power. Until these type of conversations end, by both sides, we will continue to spiral down as a country like the deflationary spiral we are in. Everyone is ok if it is their guy who abuses their power because everyone thinks their guy has their best interests at heart, a little clue after working in DC NO they don’t! The only standard we need to judge is what power an I comfortable handing someone with a different political ideology than mine? If you are OK with it that power is Constitutional, if not most likely it is not. Unless we lose our Liberty and Republic the political pendulum will always swing to the extreme left or right and the power you give up today will be in the hands of someone you disagree with in the near future.

In the past repubs and dems CITIZENS talked and debated each other but with a level of respect, now we act like our elected officials and go for the throat and that is what will kill this country. So and so is a repub or a dem and is evil, wants people to die in the streets and so forth.

I love the argument “but the other guy did it” It reminds me of a school yard d#$% measuring contest. We hold two different standards in our lives, personal and political. In our personal lives we never would be relieved that a person robbing our home shared the same letter in parenthesis after our names but we accept it in our political lives. Both parties have robbed this country (meaning Us) blind and until we stop fighting fellow citizens with absurd comments and attacks (yes from both sides) and start talking again it will continue and we and future generations will be left holding a bill we cannot pay

Phritz this is absolutely the BEST political statement I've seen on these boards in a freaking long time and something I complained about during the last election.

I don't understand why people just can't discuss matters with respect. I'd also like to add that what one person may think is humorous might not be to another. Before you post what you think is a cute funny picture place your candidate's face in the place of the candidate you are making fun of and if you might find it offensive then simply don't post it!!

Obama will still have one year left in his first term on 1/20/12. Which is fine with me considering the alternative. :D

Thank you!
When the Republicans were in power, they had members switch parties, such as Jim Jeffords of VT, and now that the Democrats are in power, they are seeing the same thing happen, as many moderate Democrats are either switching parties, such as Billy Nicholson of Miss. or they are deciding not to seek reelection, such as Sens. Dodd, Dorgen and most recently, Evan Bayh. When Bayh announced his not seeking re-election, Bayh said "For some time, I've had a growing conviction that Congress is not operating as it should. There is much too much partisanship and not enough progress. ... Even at a time of enormous national challenge, the people's business is not getting done."

One party isn't better than the other, the only difference is the masters they serve. Sadly, the middle class of America, which is most Americans, is the master of neither party. The sooner they realize it, and quit voting party lines the better off this country will be.

Personally, I would be just as embarrassed to be a member or supporter of the Democrat party as I would be to be a member of the Republican party.
