The Today Show had something about the weather history on this day in Vancouver for the last 80 or so years. I think it was something like snow on 9 days and rain on 42 or 47 or something like that. With that track record there was no question about having the ceremony indoors. :lol:
This is why they invented umbrellas and goretex :D :D

The opening also had to be inside because there we don't have an open
roofed stadium big enough here. But, the powers that be and are in
charge of such things here in this province have decided that once the games
are over they will get rid of the air filled pillow roof on the stadium and
put in a retractable one at the small cost of $400 or so million :-?
