Up the mountain is usually a different story. He was always amazed how you could take a short drive and go from rainy to snow.
I was there in the summer to visit him and we went to Whisler. You could take the ski lift up and still see snow.
The opening also had to be inside because there we don't have an open
roofed stadium big enough here. But, the powers that be and are in
charge of such things here in this province have decided that once the games
are over they will get rid of the air filled pillow roof on the stadium and
put in a retractable one at the small cost of $400 or so million
