Set alarm clock for 1:50 am. roll out of bed to find Dear Husband at his laptop and the main computer set with both sites. I select cat 1, not knowing that main floor is the cheapest and closest, who thought! I get row 1 center on the dress circle, put in my credit card, mind you I called Chase and told them I would be making several purchases from France in the next week. I hit submit to have the system come back and deny my credit card.

Lucky for me my cowboy is on his laptop and at Olympia hall, he gets two seats in the balcony, ok, it is buffett in paris and his crappy card works!!! :D At this point billette is locked up, rejects all attempts at anything and DH is still looking at Olympia Hall. About 20 minutes later he says "how about dress circle, front and center?" I jump up and down and we now have his card work once again!!!!

We are in the dress circle, have an extra set of tickets for the balcony and am going to Paris to see Jimmy for my birthday.

We have a hotel already in the 9th arr with good reviews, now airfare [smilie=beadygrinner.gif]

Glad you all got tickets. We saw him at New Morning and La Cigale, we were going this year, but I chose not to as the venue is gettting to big. Any chance that he is playing at New Morning this year as well? We have gotten spoiled seeing him in small venues and there is nothing better than New Morning. For all of you going, enjoy the show, enjoy Paris and post lot's of pictures...

Where did you find cheap beer?

Our tip, order the 2 course menu. One get the appetizer & entree. The other get the entree & dessert. Split your apptizer & dessert. A full 3 courses was too much food. We also grab lunches at street markets.

Cowboy y'all will love Oktoberfest. The Germans are some fun partying people. We are just at the end of Fasching here, German Mardi Gras. NOLA has nothing on them. We have a nice little hotel near the festival grounds we stay at in Munich if you're interested, nothing fancy, clean and close. Not sure which weekend we are going yet.

Deb & Rox, My tickets in the mez are row 1 seats 39/41, apparently next to Dutch's wife's single seat 43, per an earlier post. Looking forward to seeing you all again. Bob

Got tickets this morning but they are alot more expensive this year plus the venue holds 2000 so is a lot larger than previous years.

It looks like an all seater venue with allocated seat numbers.

Talking to 2 friends the ticket allocation has been a wierd . At 9.00am they could only get seats that were single ones in the 4th row of the mezzanine so they are not sitting together yet when I bought my tickets 1 hour later i got 2 front row seats in the mezzanine with no problem. The best priced tickets sold out within the first hour.

This will probably be the last year we will go because it´s getting to expensive when you consider hotel costs and flights etc

Cowyboy's wife here. Hope to see you at the concert Cheryl and Luc! Love the idea of the split meals and saving a bit of $$ since we are going to budget and then triple it. Where are you staying in Paris? It is so hard with all the hotels, high prices and bad reviews. We are thinking the Hotel Langlois but don't know yet. Please do tell us more about the nice little hotel near the grounds, I hope we can stumble back to our room afterwards. Let us know when you are going as we don't know anything other than Paris the day before and after the concert.

Now where is that dang parrot?

You are one lucky birthday girl.

We booked the flight for Wednesday to Sunday. I'm not going to worry about a hotel until it gets a lot closer. We will be in Paris July/August when granddaughter comes over to visit. If we find something good, we'll share info. We are not fancy travelers. Just good clean, comfortable, safe accomodation as close to the middle of things and public transportation as we can get. We go for the destination. We want to see as much of Europe as we can while we are assigned here.

Managed to book La Bruyere hotel 9er arrondissement 35 Rue de La Bruyere for 71 euros a night from the website www.venere.com. It is walking distance to LÓlympia. That is a good price for the area most were well over 100 euros a night. It has mixed reviews on trip adviser but we are taking the chance because of the location.. If anything better turns up for the price will advise you all as we can cancel up to a week before with no penalty.

I had "technical difficulty" on the Olympia site this morning as well and finally purchased two tickest thru the other site that is in French!! I "think" I got two tickets in the balcony!!!! Can't wait to celebrate my big 4-0 with you and Jimmy!! :P

Just heads up......
The "Orchestra" seats are what we would call floor seats.......HOWEVER, they are not seats....this will be a standing room on the floor. If you got tickets from l'Olympia, you will notice that you simply go a "number" ....if from GDP it will have a "rang" and Seat number.......this only their way of keeping track.....the only reserved seats are the Mezzanine and the Balcony...........

Some other terms;
- Rang = Row
- Place = Seat number
- Strapontin = Folding Seat .....these are folding seats on the aisles
- The house is divided in Half with the Odd Numbers on the left side (looking at the stage), the even Numbers are on the right side. With the lowest seats 001 and 002 right next to each other in the middle on the dividing line. So if you have places 23 and 25, they are next to one another..........

For us, this will be year 3 seeing Jimmy in Paris......and this year is for our 25th anniversary..... :D :D :D :o 8)

Have fun and we'll see you all there!!!!!! :D :D :D 8) 8)

Right there with ya on the clean and comfortable. We are not 4 seasons kinda people but I wish! I have booked Hotel Langlois because it is clean, comfortable, has good reviews and the RER is just two stops from the Olympia. I have some maps coming from the Metro / RER and the website is very interactive on how to get around.

Are you Military? Is see you used assigned and just wondered. Where have you been so far and what is on the wish list? I have been all over Russia, Poland, Belarus, etc but never this part of Europe so we are also squeezing in as much as possible. My #1 must see after the concert is the LV store, just to look.

DH is really excited about October fest and wants to more about your suggestions for hotels and tents.

8) Hi again to all of the Parrot Heads we met last year in Paris and/or Maui and Honolulu. For those of you who don't remember (or chose not to) I was the big ugly guy with no neck acting as Dutch and Wifey Poo's assistant for passing out/throwing beads, fishing for flip flops and strolling to the after party at the Irish Pub place while dressed in grasskirts, beads and little else. My those Parisianers were a friendly bunch... Looking forward to this year! 8)
