Just for grins, I checked Ticketmaster a minute ago and there were still reserved and lawn tickets available. I'm surprised!

Tickets and hotel confirmed. The the Phin begin!

In the past I've partied with the Frisco Feeding Frenzy crowd (organized by Mr. Play). The party starts the night before the concert but is more organized starting at 8am the day of the concert. Are any such organized, tailgaiting parties planned for STL this April 29th?

I've been to a couple of those pre-parties! Hoot Island and the first one at Frisco - those Texans really know how to throw a party!!! I don't think that kind of party would work in St. Louis, though - I understand the police enforce a lot of rules. At least they opened the gates earlier 2 yrs. ago than the 5:00 they said they would open. We pre-partied at a bar where the 12 Volt Band played so I've not yet experienced the parking lot party, but that's what we plan to do this year.

Finally gave up yesterday on the tickets they were offering me on Ticketmaster. Can't handle sitting too far back. Too many people who don't really get into the whole party and want to sit for the concert!! Pulled a few "only open in case of emergency" strings and now have center stage in the first 5 rows somewhere!!!!! :D :D :D :D
Bring on the pharty!!!! FINS UP!!
Let's hope the MH police remain as "friendly" as last time and they open early!!
I want to go back down and lie beside the sea there.

I second that!! Two years ago it rained almost all day and as soon as JB shows up the skies parted and it was a beautiful night!!

I think that 12 volt is trying to plan a pre-concert party somewhere but not sure where yet. As for tailgating, the way I understand it is as long as you don't have any grills and bottles out, the police are OK. We went to Harrah's for a pre-party last year and it was fun but I heard that the parking lot was a lot of fun so we are going to try it this year. Anyone heard anything about the Boat Drunks playing afterward yet?

I've decided to go ahead and do my full tailgating plan as I do in Chicago. The Police were super nice in 2008, I think they knew that everything was all cool and in good pfun. The stupid laws were put into place due to a bunch of stupid people at that venue being ignorant. The Police realize that this crowd is totally different than the crowd that started the riot so they ease up a little and let people have a great time.

They had no problem with open containers and even glass bottles last time. I'm also taking the grill. We were parked right next to a young group who had a grill last time and they obviously knew the rules because they were trying to hide it (I know, it was funny, how can you hide the smoke and smell coming from a charcoal grill :-). I figure the worst thing that can happen is they will confiscate a 15yr old tailgating grill.

Well, that's all encouraging tailgate news! :D Does anyone who's familiar with the area know of a "marker" or landmark in the lot where we could all sort of party together?

What - no grilling or bottles (essentially no tailgating)? In addition, the gates don't open until 5ish? Not cool!

How is a parrothead to start their journey to the islands without a few boat drinks and cheeseburgers? :pirate:

I agree we should still congregate near a certain section of the parking lot, etc., and party together as best we are allowed... Does anyone live in the area who could get a firm grasp on the rules for this venue?

I go to a number of concerts at Verizon every year and generally the parking lot opens at 5:00 but from what I have heard they opened around 2:00 in 2008 for JB. I have never tried to grill in the parking lot so I'm not sure if that is really prohibited. There is "officially" a no adult beverage policy but I have, and seen many others, partaking both before and after a concert. However, I have also seen the MHPD get pretty agressive with people who are getting obnoxious.

Found this on Verizon's website.

I wrote to the venue and they said it is likely that the city will turn its head again and allow some restricted tailgating because it is part of the experience. They said tents and BBQ pits will still not be allowed. Last time parking lots opened at 3p, but they said they will not be able to confirm what time gates will open this year till beginning of April.

I saw that also. You have to think JB wouldn't be back to St. Louis again if the MH police weren't going to allow tailgating. 08 wasn't bad at all. I wasn't able to get there till 3:30 or so, but I had a great time. I didn't bring a grill, but survived!!
The biggest issue could be the weather in stl in April!! :( :(
