Holy Cow, those planes are all beautiful!!!.

So now I have two goals before I die. One is to see Jimmy in do a small acoustic show.

And now the other is to fly in a sea plane of some sort and land on the water.

What more could a girl ask for?

Very cool.

Anyone know if there are flying boats there? I would think so but the hype is float planes.

Chalk's might still have plans for service, tho after the one failed due to structural issues a couple three years ago, not sure if they are back in the seaplane business or not.

No....Chalk's WAS a Florida operation.....Your question was a bit ambigous.......No West Coast Air only has Float Planes ..no Flying boats or Seaplanes..... It is getting harder to find commercial seaplane operators.... for a variety of reasons, not the least of which is the general age of these aircraft......most of the Grumman seaplanes were built in the '40's and '50's........ the plane that broke chalk's back was a Grumman Mallard (Beautiful aircraft!!!!!!!) ....I think I had heard that the main wing spar had failed....or was it fastners on the spar??? anyway....Penninusla air out of Anchorage still flys Gumman Gooses http://www.penair.com

BUT to fly them you have to get to them....they are all stationed in the bush.......

This is one of the Gooses out of Dutch Harbor.....up on Winslow Lake.....Fishin' for Reds..... :D :D :D 8) 8)

Which plane would Jimmy have used to fly to Haiti? He has more than one seaplane/float plane doesn't he?

I don't know. From what I've seen he just has and only has the float plane.

According to another Buffett site which shall remain nameless, Jimmy got both a new float plane and a new sea plane in 2009. I think I have the correct terms now. The float plane is a Cessna 208 Caravan. And the sea plane is a Grumman G-21A Goose made in 1939. From the descriptions, the guess would be that he took the Cessna.

Even is someone wanted to tell you the ACTUAL name of the other site, they couldn't. This forum censors it in various forms. You can search "other site" here and read a number of threads with bits and pieces of the history.

Both Bits AND Pieces are members of "the site which shall not be named"?

No, read that again. Bits and Pieces can be found in threads HERE on BN....although they could be found on the "other site" as well, but we can't talk about that, can we?

Heh heh. I guessed at the site you were talking about and it turned out, well, let's just say I saw the plane. I'm not going to say I found the right site but I'm just guessing I did.

I see it does get censored. In direct context. Are there any other sites and do they get censored as well? That's the only other one I know of.
