yeah! Nashville is to the point that if we weren't all crazy, we would go insane! We have been told to conserve water, so Mr. Irish and I are drinking beer. :D It was great meeting you, by the way!

They tell you to conserve water when there's a flood. That is irony! And the pleasure was mine! :D

Jimmy Buffett pre-concert party and concert May 1 2010 event report
by Kathleen Wallish - President, Music City PHiNs

Saturday May 1st was a very wet day in Nashville, but the 275 parrot heads that signed on to tailgate with the Music City PHiNs brought with them a ray of sunshine that no downpour could dampen!! It was a PHantastically Phun and successful event and here are the reasons why:

1. Rippy’s Bar in downtown Nashville, just across from the BridgeStone Arena, provided a great party room upstairs that walked out onto the rooftop for a great view of lower Broadway. Space was limited to 275 and we maxed it out!! Thanks to Rippy’s untiring servers and bartenders who kept our phlock fed, watered and very happy!

2. DJ Jeff Allen from BeachFrontRadio.com was our amazing Master of Ceremonies. Leaving the day’s entertainment agenda in his capable hands, he kept the crowd revved up with great TropRock from the awesome BeachFront Radio library. He also had games to play, CD’s to win, and BFR tattoos and koozies for everyone! Thanks to Jeff for a wonderfully seamless flow of parrot head frenzy!

3. Ramajay Intercoastal hit the stage with a steel drum groove that took us on a Magic Cruise! Tall Paul, Quincy, Michael, Klee & Alonzo offered up an explosion of music that kept us begging for more – from older St. Somewhere and TP tunes, to new RI originals, to classic Buffett covers. Thanks to the boys for keeping it in high gear on such a gloomy day!

4. 16 Parrothead Clubs & BeachFrontRadio, generously donated gift baskets, filled with all kinds of party favors, to our Chinese Auction. By the time the tickets were sold (by those crazy Southern Illinois Pholks), the winners were called by DJ Jeff, and the baskets were in the hands of those lucky few – we had raised $750 for The Nashville Rescue Mission!! Thanks to everyone who gave!

THANK YOU – GRACIAS – MERCI BEAUCOUP !!!

5. Coral Reefers made time to come across the street in the pouring rain for a Meet & Great with our tailgaters! Peter Mayer, Jim Mayer & Doyle Grisham chatted, signed autographs and took pictures with lots off very happy pholks. Thanks to Debbie Grisham for arranging all of it!!

6. 275 phlockers from 16 different parrot head clubs balked at the weather forecast and came out to Party with a Purpose. I never would have thought we would see such a representation at our humble gathering. Thank you phlockers, for all the energy, phun and true parrot head participation!

7. And finally – The Music City PHiNs Board and volunteers. What is amazing to me is that since January 2010, our once little club has been newly resurrected with a new Board and 100 new members! So this Pre-Concert Tailgate Party was the first endeavor of its size that our group has coordinated together. I am very thankful to have such a hard working krewe as Steve Colburn, VP; Marcia Colburn, Membership; Jim Cozart, Treasurer; Tina Messamore, Charities and Mike Pugh, WebMaster!! And also to those eager newbies who volunteered their time to set up, work the door, sell raffle tickets, handle security and tear down….big thanks to ALL!

I have since received all kind of KUDOS for a job well done and I share those accollades with the brilliant pholks listed above that made it ALL come together and be so PHABULOUS!

Cheers & PHiNs UP!!!

Nashville Parrotheads. . .Nashville Humane Society is in DIRE need of bleach, paper towels, and old or new newspapers. The animal situation is really beginning to hit today. For those of us that helped after Katrina, the flashbacks are also hitting. The Humane Society of the US, whatever you may think of them, my opinion varies even though I work with them on situations like this. . . will be here in the next day or so. If you have any of these items and can get them over to the shelter on Oceola Ave, it would be great. They are also taking pet food and cat litter donations as well. I know this isn't the right forum for this, but I know the Nashville people are monitoring this page.

Working on it. We are meeting tonite to review our pre-concert party results (what we did right or wrong, changes, etc) , plan our calendar of events for the next couple of months and discuss how we are going to be involved in relief efforts. For me personally helping pets whether during a disaster or any other time is a priority. Other pholks have their personal pick of which charity to help but mine is pets.

Anybody got any good pictures of the rain, etc. I'd love to go to cafepress.com and make a t-shirt or have someone else do it for those of us who partied through the flood and those of us still dealing with the aftermath. Seems trivial, but it would be a nice addition to my Buffett T-shirt collection.

WOW just WOW .. I'm home..
SURPRISE!!!
there were some pholks I missed.. and I'm sorry for that
I really wanted to lay a hug on some of the pholks I missed..
those I saw.. thanks.. I had a great time..
I hope all is well and all are safe..
I spent all day Sunday in the Day's inn stuck.. (flooded road)
and all (well most of the ) day Monday relocating to the Ramada..
by a sheer stroke of luck a fence fell down at the back of the property
and we were able to leave Monday..
I know that my trials were minor and want to treat them as such.
some thoughts.... I had a great time.. PM and crew Friday night were great the show Saturday night was good... it was great to see the ones I did..
Good BBQ and a great great burger..
my ride home was fun.. :D

on a very selfish note.. If someone could keep us up on the
work and reopenings (and closings   )
Downtown.. I really want to come back, when things
are up and running (yep I know at least 6 months maybe longer)
I loved what I saw..

thanks again..
