Okay, pholks, here's what I know:
A. Piratenurse rocks.
B. She and I are going to team up for this project.
C. I will spend the next few days checking out a few sources, and generally figuring out the "infrastructure."
D. I cannot promise to have any in time for the first concert of the season.
E. Please note I am referring to lanyards only, not nametags. The laminated nametags have always been something of a spontaneous thing that a kind BN'er volunteers to do every now and then, here and there.
F. Not saying we ARE doing the lanyards yet-look for separate thread that after I do my research if we are.
G. I have only had one cup of coffee, so I'm not responsible for anything I say right now. [smilie=battingeyes.gif]

When I wanted a nametag for the Alpine Valley concert last year, conched posted this for me: /viewtopic.php?f=56&t=75475&start=241.
There is an actual-size image of the nametag there, with room for your handle or real name at the bottom.

I was able to take this to a Speedy-print type place, get them to put my handle at the bottom, and had them make up (and laminate) a couple for myself. Speaking from experience, though, do it far enough in advance so that if they don't get it right you've got time to have them redo it — and insist on seeing a proof before they produce and laminate the final image. I wasn't satisfied with mine; the people I had do them either couldn't (or didn't care enough to try to) match the font when they printed "Bicycle Bill" on the bottom ... but I was pushed right up to the wire and had to take them or do without.

As an aside, does anybody know if that particular typeface has a name??

Thank you for posting the font! I lost my nametag last year and need to create a new one for a virgin this year and having the identical font looks so much better!!!

OK....I've double checked things here, the original font that I found by searching BN was listed as Alba in 2003, but....in comparing the nametag in the above link I believe the font is now Bauhaus Md BT

 sorry for any confusion :-?
I'm going to do another search :-?

Did another search, and the original picture is gone :-?

I just printed them using Alba and it looks great. I did get the Bauhaus Md BT and it is identical to the original text but both look good.

Can you hear the gears grinding in Virginia???? That's the sound of Auntie's fingers flying across the keyboard (and her tired brain doing some initial resarch) [smilie=asa.gif]

What'd the lanyards end up costing (in money, not in blood, sweat, and tears) the last couple times we did them? I have ZERO memory.

While I've already got a lanyard — I can't remember who I got it from; all I have is a real name and I hesitate to post it here — I'd still agree to take a couple more, Auntie.
Can't never have too many lanyards!!
