I had a metal one that I made with a piece of metal cut from the side of an old washing machine.
I bolted it to a two foot long magnet and painted it.
We had it on the roof for a few miles on I-4 but then decided to take it off when the state trooper got behind us for a while. It must not have been moving because he did not stop.
Still we took it down so as not to decapitate anyone. I know, I know....we're no fun.
I've since retired it to the backyard where it's now a lawn ornament/lime slicer.

Should have bolted it in with 3 inch lag screws from inside the cabin.

We have a fin and tail just like PHarmGirl. My husband made it out of plywood and he used U shaped brackets attached to 2 inch wide PVC piping (for the fin) and attach it to the luggage rack on top. The tail fits in our hitch and it actually sways back and forth when we drive down the road. We painted it dark gray and tipped the fin in black. We also "paint" eyes on the side view mirrors and teeth on the front bumper.

You just have to remember NOT to drive your car into the garage after the concert with the fin on top.......that could be bad.... [smilie=battingeyes.gif]

If your skills are good....and you have the time...... Take a peice of plywood, sandwich it with 2 pieces of insulating foam, carve, sand and shape the foam for the contours of the fin and fiberglass it. sand and paint.......

Or if you ahave a local surf shop that has its own line of boards, go ask them if they can do it for you.....
