Re: what happened to Radio Margaritaville?
Being 'an IT guy', I somewhat agree. It's a very lame solution to a problem that's been around way too long. BUT, the Flash player sounds BETTER...and works fine...and they're still giving it away FREE...so, hell, it's ok by me. The budget for providing the 'freebies' prolly isn't real high right now. I'm still getting more than what I paid for.
Great? No. Ok? Hell, yeah.
Just my $0.02...

At least I still get to listen for free. I just don't appreciate the lack of communication. But I'll probably pheel better about it all after I have coffee. ![battingeyes [smilie=battingeyes.gif]](./images/smilies/battingeyes.gif)

could probably fund it for life out of a week's worth of sales from paper products in the KW M'ville..Martyritaville wrote:Being 'an IT guy', I somewhat agree. Re: what happened to Radio Margaritaville?
I've always used Winamp to stream RM, this url works for Winamp and Windows media player.
http://radmarg.ic.llnwd.net/stream/radmarg_razorback
Sounds good at 96 kbps, the old low bandwidth stream used to be something like 32 or 40.

Re: what happened to Radio Margaritaville?
A local PH friend of mine had emailed RM last week asking 'what up' with getting the Windows Media stream fixed and he got a reply from them late yesterday. In it's entirety:
Gary,
WMP is no longer available. Use the Flash player.

Well. At least they didn't take too much time or effort in writing the reply.Martyritaville wrote:A local PH friend of mine had emailed RM last week asking 'what up' with getting the Windows Media stream fixed and he got a reply from them late yesterday. In it's entirety:

Re: what happened to Radio Margaritaville?
They must have got a bunch of complaints.
They brought back the little box for the Windows Media Player and it says this now:
They brought back the little box for the Windows Media Player and it says this now:
The Flash stream has a decent quality, but it's not as smooth to listen to over long periods. It'll just drop out for apparently no reason and skip quite a bit. The WMP stream had a nice buffer that would eliminate most of those issues.ATTENTION: Okay! We're working on bringing this stream back. In the meantime, please try the ablove Flash stream. It works and sounds great -- and the download is easy.

I don't think it's an April Fools joke...it's been happening this week a lot. It just stops working; you have to X out and go back in to get it playing again.

Jimmy must have signed a deal with the code-writers who supply the flash-player...jwhite wrote:I don't think it's an April Fools joke...it's been happening this week a lot. It just stops working; you have to X out and go back in to get it playing again.

Still, it's all a mystery,

Most are fine as oysters
While some become pearls
