JollyMon66 wrote:The shows from the last few tours have been pretty great but I guess I have to say the Fruitcakes Tour at the Merriweather. I know we were at the Saturday show but I can't find the date. Those were the days when the designated driver was the guy who found the keys in his pocket when it was time to go home.
In my first post I should have added a very memorable moment from a past show. The Philly Saturday show in 2008 and the huge T-Storm that rolled through at about 7:55. About 25,000 of you should remember us trying to take cover under the stadium overhangs. It was pretty wild how the storm clouds just rolled over the edge of the top of the stadium...something like out of a sci-fi movie. The show producers should have been piping in the REO “Ridin' the Storm Out” song.
By the way - that was a great show that followed. Sonny Landreth was on stage. Lots of great cuts including Cowboy in the Jungle, Tying to Reason, School Boy Heart, and Scarlet Begonias. The first encore was Fins and Rainy Day Women #12 and #35 followed by Jimmy solo doing Defying Gravity for the second encore. You know on second thought...this was a better show than Merriweather!
If we couldn't laugh we would all go insane ...

Re: What was your most favorite Buffett show ever?
I have three.
The Friday Fenway Park Show in 2004 is by far number 1. The 2003 - 2004 Red Sox teams were very special to me. That rivalry with the Yankees over those two years were, as Bob Ryan from the Boston Globe put it "too good to even be a story" . . . Jimmy "breaking the curse of the Bambino" while I was in the front row (and I have Jimmy's sandal from that show on my desk at home - framed) meant more then I can describe. The fact that the Red Sox came back from a 0 - 4 deficit to beat the Yankees and win the World Series is just too much to wrap my head around even 6 years later.
The Chicken Box - Summer 2002. Nantucket Island. The stories . . . oh the stories I could tell.
The Hurricane Great Woods show.
**** Jimmy playing Tin Cup Chalice at Great Woods last year for an acoustic solo (first time I heard it live) makes 2009 Great Woods a close 4th.

Re: What was your most favorite Buffett show ever?
hmmm
this is a tough one since each concert was special for one reason or another.
My first concert in Chicago was right after 9/11. It was a pretty emotional event and a very close bonding experience for those that were there.
Hoot Island was a Hoot...by far my favorite tailgate.
Honolulu last year was magical. Beautiful venue, close seats, good friends
Detroit last year was a fun one for us. We didn't get much chance to tailgate since we arrived late, but it was fun meeting the local state gang if only briefly...and we enjoyed the venue.
Prolly the only concert that couldn't be considered for a favorite list was the crushing experience at Alpine.

Re: What was your most favorite Buffett show ever?
My favorite concert was in the lawn section in Houston 2008. The sound was so good. All of us singing harmony with Jimmy on Trying to Reason With Hurricane Season. My good friend, Troy Allan was there with me and we all sounded so good. KK (VanillaGrl) was there, and Todd (Ringling Ringling) was in our group providing us with great Buffett back-stories along the way. My son had his first drink with his ol' man... so many reasons that show was the best.

0-4 deficit? Wow, did I miss a few games that year? When did they change the WS to a nine game series??drunkpirate66 wrote: The fact that the Red Sox came back from a 0 - 4 deficit to beat the Yankees and win the World Series is just too much to wrap my head around even 6 years later.
But, yes, that was amazing.

Re: What was your most favorite Buffett show ever?
My first one. 1991 in St. Louis. Shows back then seemed to be more of a show than they are now. More thought went into the sets. Jimmy came on stage in a "replica" of the Hemisphere Dancer. A short film was played. A good ticket was $26.
A lot that doesn't happen anymore, but then again, he doesn't need to spend that money to sell out at $136.
I also enjoyed the front row seat I had in St. Louis around 1998. A vendor took us.

Re: What was your most favorite Buffett show ever?
They have all been special mainly because of the people I got to spend time with. Charlotte 2009 was fun because I had a front row seat, Barry next to me and Jason behind me, and we got noticed by Jimmy because of Duckett.
My most favorite would have to be Paris 2009 because of the close-up experience.
Can't wait for the next one!!!!

Very, very special indeedy! It's fun being so close you can see everything going on with Jimmy and the Coral Reefers and even those behind the stage at times.dnw wrote:Paris - 2009
I did sort of wonder what all was going on in the rest of the theater since I was so attuned to the stage and Jimmy and there were no big SCREENS.

It would have to be my first Buffett concert ever, way back in the summer of 1977. It's when my addiction started!

Hey “He came from England” - speaking of concert stories there must be a good one surrounding the two lovely ladies shown smiling in your profile picture. Willing to share that story with all of us?
