The original producer, Sherwood Scwartz is in charge, and apparently Michael Cera is going to star.
Can't wait! I LOVE Gilligan's Island!

Boy - How old is Sherwood Schwartz now? 90?
So they have an actor for Gilligan - any suggestions on who plays the other parts?

I'm sorry, that was dumb enough the first time around, why they feel it needs to be repeated is kind of a mystery to me.

Hey if they can turn the Flintstones into a movie and some idiot is stupid enough to produce it...they can do most anything....
I'm thinking Billy Bob Thornton would make a great Skipper -
Beyonce - a great Ginger
Sandra Bullock - a great Mary Ann
Jack Black - a great professor
No need to fill the Howes since my script would include drowning them off camera since they did nothing to help the cause in the TV series!

Now you know I would be just perfect for the part of "the Skipper".

The first question Hollywood asks about a movie is, "How much money will we make on it"?
After seeing the remakes of "Rollerball", "Flight of the Phoenix", and "Mission: Impossible" (and dreading some of the other 'treatments' being worked on), I don't think there is anyone in Hollywood who ever asks a question like yours. They'd be on the outside looking in so fast their shadow would need 10 minutes to catch up to 'em.

It was actually a very intelligent show that can trace its roots back to the Commedia Del Arte style of theater. Commedia had a stock set of characters, the most famous being the comic relief Arlecchino or Harlequin:
There was also Il Dottore (or the professor):
Il Capitano (the Captain):
As well as many others. I swear I'm not making this up:

In a theater History class in college, we did a scene from Gilligan's Island for our final as an example of Commedia. Got an A.
