Interesting combination.
It was, I would highly recommend it for something different. We just cut the sweet potatoes into strips and baked them and I don't remember what brand the sauce is but they also make a horseradish sauce and a couple of others. I've seen them in most grocery stores.

In Canada, French fries are the main component of a dish called 'poutine' french for "a mess": a mixture of French fries with fresh cheese curds (sometimes rasped cheese), covered with a hot gravy. This dish is invented in Pointe Gatineau, Quebec and its popularity has spread throughout Quebec and the rest of Canada.
Otherwise, at home I'll have them with mayo & ketchup, or maybe ranch, depending on my mood. But, if I'm having fish & chips, it has to be vinegar.
OMG Yes these are fantastic. I have had them a couple of times on trips to Granbe (about 90 k north of Montreal) although I thought that they were called Pomme Frites (I have no idea why)

Mostly Tartar Sauce though.

In the old days when we still had more than one or two Bob's Big Boys in California, their fries were killer with a side of Bob's Bleu Cheese Dressing. Of course you had to follow it with a Hot Fudge Cake, a square of vanilla ice cream between two fudge cakes with hot fudge, whip cream, nuts and a cherry. I think the same chain was called Frisch's Big Boy in the eastern states.

I've also seen it called Kip's Big Boy when it was in the DFW area

Fry sauce, which is basically thousand island dressing. Failing that, a spicy mustard is really good too.

Usually nothing. But I'll do whatever matches where I get the fries.

My favorite BBQ take home place has these huge, thick, but crispy HOME FRIES and I put a half-and-half mixture of Rudy's BBQ Sauce and ketchup on them...I keep that mixed up in the fridge at all times.

At certain places I love country style gravy on them--a carry-over from my favorite place when I was a teenager and NOW at Church's Fried Chicken.

At my favorite Mexican place, when I order Carne Guisada Dinner I always get fries added to the plate and eat them with the gravy. YUMMMY!

Wolf Brand Chili and Cheese Sauce/Dip is great on fries too.

Sometimes I make a big sammich with fresh, hot French Fries and Ham and Mayo and Pineapple Ring. That's my BIL's favorite. Oh, yum yum.

No wonder my cholesterol is high.

As a true Brit...... it has to be salt and malt vinegar...............

This side of the pond, they are rarely referred to as French Fries (unless there is a Mc in front of the restaurant name) they are simply chips!!
