Dude, i SOOOOOOO thought about doing something like that, but just featuring bars, somewhere between the shows "Three Sheets" and one they had on public TV in Connecticut called "Eating Connecticut." Go to 3 bars each episode, talk about their signature drink and while the bartender was making the drink, talk a little about whatever town I was in, the history, the sights, etc. Really, the biggest difference between our ideas is who'd be hosting it!pair8head wrote:OK that just triggered an old idea I had..SMLCHNG wrote:I want my own "Diners Drive-In's and Dives" type show.

It would highlight the city and it's night life.
Everything from the City's Opera, Symphony, Theater etc

Country Music places, Comedy Clubs and everything in between.

While on a cruise vacation the other year with a buddy of mine and our wives we came up with a very similar job... a "suit adjustor". Did you ever take notice to the amount of time ladies put into adjusting their suits when leaving the pool or spa? We were thinking that offering to help with the adjustment was a pefectly fine future career....our wives felt differently. After a lengthy discussion with our wives (over several drinks) we learned that if we wanted to follow this dream career we both would be living alone somewhere with about 1/4 of our stuff...we decided to keep our current jobs.

Re: What's your Dream Job?
Just getting the dream job started, actually. We have just begun production for The Adventures of Tonto's Revenge which is a virtual field trip program that will be offered to elementary students across the country. We're taking our sailboat to all sorts of cool spots and meeting interesting people for half-hour webisodes that will be broadcast to classrooms over the internet. We follow the show up with live skype video calls, emails and, once a year, a personal visit to each classroom. So far, we have five school districts signed up, which covers our start-up and the production costs for the first year. This has been my dream for quite a while and this year I decided to just do it. I'm still working my "real" job, but another 20-30 school districts and I'm packing it in and going sailing for a living.

I started working PT at a dive shop here in Vermont back in 2003 doing retail. Since then I've taken a bunch of classes and can repair 4 different manufacturers equipment, and just completed my Divemaster certification last year. Not sure what my next steps are but thinking my instructors certification and a commercial boaters license so I can haul people out to the dive sites. Eventually we are moving to FLA and I hope to do it down there, but til then, I still enjoy it!

EXACTLY!!!! That's the theory I started on, and that is one of the main themes we use in our webisodes. We stole from Mark Twain when setting up the vision of our program: Explore. Dream. Discover. Every dream is obtainable if you start out by setting your sights on smaller dreams that eventually lead you to your bigger dream.

I don't want to rain on your parade, but,......dive instructors, dive masters, and boat captains dont make much money. Don't believe me..............just ask one of them. Oh sure...you may be living your dream....but ya gotta eat too.
