Vacuum Cleaners - Input?

I'm on the market for a new vacuum cleaner. I suppose we're looking for a canister model. Anyone have any input on one that you're absolutely in love with? At the moment, it's looking like the Dyson DC23 Motorhead or Turbine Head models are my lead candidate. Does anyone own the (cheaper) turbine head model? If so, any complaints?

I like my 20+ year old Rainbow.

I mean, it's a love/hate relationship.

"Thank you for calling Kirby, my name is Will, how can I help you?"
"Your product doesn't s***!!!"
"ahhh, I see your problem..."

I work as an RTV clerk and the Dyson is the least one to get returned for problems.
All the other brands seemed to have problems with the motors and not sucking good enough.
I have the animal dyson and the DC14. I love them both

I use a canister, I hate hate hate an upright...just doesn't work for me. I get mine at Sears, they have good ones and many choices. Mine has a hepa filter and a special cloth bag. I'm rough on vacuums.

I've been researching some more and am now tossed between the Dyson and a Miele. The Miele is pricier and uses bags, but is quieter and has more ratings with shockingly few negative reviews on Amazon. But perhaps I'm pushing myself into a price range I can't justify.

Years ago my wife purchased (without my knowledge) a Kirby, what an expensive paper weight that thing is. I'm in the process of getting rid of both but that's another story. In the search for another vacuum I decided to go with a backpack model, no more dragging anything around getting hung up on coffee tables, couches and corners. I put a long extension cord on it, plug it in by the bottom of the stairs and just walk all around the house. Different attachments on the waist belt make it very easy to get to everything, the stairs are a snap to do now. Best thing I ever did (well second) Aspria 93-5111 from vacdepot.com.

A vacuum on your back? Are you sure you didn't purchase a leaf blower?

That was my first thought.

No, it is a vacuum. All I can say is check them out, I get done in half the time. I would never buy a canister or upright again.

I used to have a Dyson until I had new carpet fitted and the carpet fitter said "you know you're just taking this for a walk" I realised what useless peice of junk it was just purchased a meile, vacums great only down side bags fill up quickly and are expensive in the UK.
