I picked up my copy fairly easily on Tuesday morning. None in the Buffett row of the music section, but I quickly found it on a new releases end cap. I also then stumbled across the Landshark t-shirts - and bought 2

I had to go back to the same store today for some camping supplies and I looked for a display. I found a big carboard display in the photo section - back to back with the Avatar movie display. I also found the Landshark hat with the bottle opener on the brim (bought that too). I really gotta cut this out! :D

I listened to it again today and it's not bad, It'll do.
I'll have to pull a few songs off of it for my own compilations. Imo the best performances are on disc 2. I'm not so sure this is the acoustic album most seem to dream of. A studio acoustic album with just the "beach band" and no audience noise would be FINtastic

I was taken back at how strong the audience connected with Jimmy on track 5, side 1 when he did Paradise. It seems Jimmy of the songs on the CD, Jimmy had a bit more passion to nail the covers that some of his own favorites. That comment is based on my personal experience of hearing APLA40 that I've never really recoverd from. I'm very pleased with the collection and I hope to figure out Sun Lover's collection with my antique Windows XP system in the near future.

I was never looking for (or expecting) individual recognition by Jimmy in the liner notes (as someone else suggested) or by any other method. I was also not trying to take sole credit for the idea. I believe several BNers were all a part of the inspiration for this CD as well as my post 2 years ago. We recognized that during the 2008 tour, Jimmy was doing a different song during the second encore of each show. All I did was put those songs together in a single collection.

I also noticed what Jimmy said before Death Of An Unpopular Poet (disc 2, track 9) as Tiki Bar mentioned above. I'm sure we mentioned in several setlist threads during the early part of the tour that it was a different encore song on each show, which was really cool. It kept each show fresh and slightly different from the previous shows. Perhaps he or someone in his camp also noticed that, either through BN or just on their own. We may never know...

I seem to recall Jimmy mentioning somewhere that he was going to try and change up the setlist for each show for that tour. I don't think it during a preshow interview; it may have been a call-in interview on RM (sorry, I don't remember the specifics).

I'm glad he released the Encores set. I also like to think that several of us here at BN did inspire him to put these songs together. I would not be surprised to learn if someone in Jimmy's camp may have downloaded the Encore Collection to determine how such a package would sound before starting the production process.

As always, thanks to Jimmy and to RM for streaming his shows to us and letting us have a virtual front row seat to each show.
I remember that...good stuff NO matter how ti got done! Thanks!

I finally got my CD in the mail yesterday and have just had a chance to listen to it. Well, as I have said in the past, Jimmy's ballads get to me and I would have paid full price for this CD if it just had the Coast of Marseilles on it. That just goes to show that he can do a beautiful ballad in the "big show" and the people will respond. What a great version.

Just went back to our little town's Walmart, and they have added Flip Flops to the setup by the CDs. :D Not bad for 4 bucks.

Hey $4 flip flops for the Buffett concert's bathrooms. Toss them out before getting back in your car!

My wife reports our local Walmart did not carry "Encores". The store says they never received a shipment. This is silly to limit the choices for purchase.

Gee. I guess I don't need this product after all.

I went to a Wal-Mart last tuesday and they had nothing....went to a different one today and picked it up. I stated before I could die happy if I heard Death of an Unpopular Poet and was fortunate enough to be at the Star Lake(Pgh) show. It's so rare that he plays it. Now I can hear it live again whenever I want.

I went to Walmart's site and had the CD shipped to the store to avoid shipping charges. Now I'm requesting Walmart pay me stocking charges.

I must admit that "Encores", like many recent JB album releases, is sounding better to me with repeated plays. Funny, but I've always looked forward to Jimmy's encores at each show (sad that the concert is over, but the encore is still usually a treat....).

I'm a little disappointed that this album only has encores from the 2008-2009 tour. While good, I'd love to hear the encore version of "Twelve Volt Man" that RM plays along with other JB classics from the past.

Maybe Mailboat Records is already producing "Encores 2"??????? :pirate:

I just bought it yesterday and LOVE IT. Some songs resonate with me more than others but did enjoy all of them. Some of them actually made my eyes leak. Will put some on my MP3 to listen to more frequently, but the CD will definitely remain in my car (even though I'm usually turned to RM on Sirius--when the the grandkeet isn't insisting on Radio Disney). The cd is already back on the shelf here. Not that it's bad but I think I'm getting burned out on live releases in general.

sonofabeach--that's my biggest complaint with RadioMargaritaville. Even before Encores they always pushed live versions of songs. It's worse now. I listen alot and never hear the studio cuts of the songs I want to hear.
