809 Area Code Scam!

Has anyone heard of this one yet?
I think we got a call from an 809 number once. DO NOT CALL if you get a call or message from that Area Code. Be careful of the 284 or 876 Area Codes too! It's in the Dominican Republic, and you will be charged almost $2500 a minute!

I have a simple rule - I don't know the caller, I don't return the call. If one of my friends or a family member dies, then I freaking expect another friend of family member to tell me. It's kinda worked that way in the past. Most of the people that I would bail out of jail, wouldn't be there without me anyway.

Umm, if you read the snopes report you quoted, it says the charges may be $25 to $100, not the $2,500 a minute you are stating. Why post a link that doesn't support what you say.

Snopes also says it's very unlikely that you'll ever encounter this scam. Why would it need a sticky?

My brother was telling me of one "story that happened to a friend of a friend" where they saw a person pulled over on the side of the road and they need help, so they pull over to help them, but at the last minute they change their mind, or something comes up, and they pull away. Turns out the person they were going to help had a duffel bag full of rope, duct tape, hand cuffs, a knife, etc. Sounds scary right?

He was telling me that, according to snopes, this story has been around since stagecoach times!
