My wife and I are throwing a huge surprise party tomorrow for her sister, who is leaving for Army bootcamp later this month, she asked me to say something at the party tomorrow. I've known Mimi since she was 8 or 9 and she really is the sister I've never had. I'm really not good at putting my feelings into words so does this sound ok would you add or delete anything... All comments are appreciated thx
MiMi,
I’ve dreaded this day for years, and yes you may see some tears, even with all these beers…As my sister we’ve shared, more than most could bare, thank God I’ve always had you there… I’m sure you realize it’s time, for my very last rhyme… I hope your all not thinking, this ship is surely sinking…
Words can not express the relationship I have with you, I’ve watched you grow from a child into a beautiful woman. A woman with her own set of values, thoughts, dreams and aspirations and my only hope for you is that you achieve all of them. In my heart I know you will, it’s your stubborn determination that assures me. I wish I could take some credit for the person you’ve become but I know it was you who just sat back quietly taking in the surroundings, deciding what you wanted and didn’t want for your life. It was you, who after making those decisions set yourself down the path your on now and I couldn‘t be more proud. As I say see you real soon, not goodbye, I just have one more favor to ask, no it’s not, “watch the kids tonight“…
Please take your loving, kindred spirit that you show to me and the rest of our family with you and share it with the brave men and woman of our military. I know they will certainly benefit from it. I love you MiMi, I’m really going to miss you while your away and I look forward to sitting on the beach with you once again having a cocktail, discussing frivolous nonsense that only a brother and sister can share.
I love you honey…
