Hi everyone!
I have been looking for months for info. on the parking lot party at Shoreline and it looks like it will be disappointing... is there really no party? I've only been to concerts at Irvine Meadows, and that one is always a huge party. What is the scene like inside? I have already gathered up all of my grass skirts and coconut bras in preparation for a big party.

Anyway, I saw someone asking about VIP parking. I drove down to Shoreline yesterday and they told me it was sold out. But then I went to BarrysTickets.com and was able to buy VIP parking for $25. I have no idea where it is, but we have numbered parking spaces for the shark-mobile and margarita-tanker.

See you all at the party!

It is usually pretty electric inside the venue. Normally, there will be between 20 and 25 thousand fans. For years, the Buffett concert has been the biggest limo renting event in the bay area.

Long term weather forecast is for temperatures in the upper 60's during the day and 50's at night. Might have to adjust the rocket fuel mixture! Hoping to hear, but probably won't, one of the following: Migration, Havana Day Dreamin, 12 Volt Man, Lone Palm. Hoping not to hear, but probably will: 5 o'clock somewhere, License to Chill, Piece of Work. Would not be surprised to hear Fruitcakes and something by the Grateful Dead (either Scarlett Begonias or Uncle John's Band).

Aloha and enjoy the concert.

Well, it's not Irvine by any stretch, from what I hear. And yeah, the cops can be a bit anal about the no-booze rule...though some of them are actually rather cool, if you don't wave the Captain in their face.

Come prepared with various ways to disguise your booze, and plan on not being able to heat food. There will still be thousands of Parrotheads in a festive mood. Plan a stop at the Sports Page on your way in - it's the bar on your left with a bunch of Parrothead vehicles in the parking lot, right after you get off 101. :)

And remember...when two or more people are gathered in Jimmy's name, fun will happen. :)

He's playing on *my* birthday too.

However, he'll be in Las Vegas that night. [smilie=asa.gif]

Guess VIP Parking is the place to be...don't know what Shoreline will let you do for the tailgate; have been there many times where they've been very intolerant but maybe they've mellowed...would love it if they allowed a 1/4 of the fun I've had at the Irvine or Alpine Valley shows (dare I dream)...will be there with guitar anyway after a stop over at the Sports Page...

In my experience (and feel free to share your own here), tailgating is completely tolerated in the VIP parking lot (though I do recall being hassled for my grill once, apparently shoreline is an old reclaimed garbage dump, methane gases, boom, whatever), I've definately been a part of some serious bedlam in the VIP area. Though yes, in the regular parking lots the prohibitionist, no-fun patrol definately keeps things on lock down.

Pre-Party in the VIP Area - worth the schlep?

Post by TereL »

I am just now finding out that tailgating is such a problem at Shoreline - what a drag. So, I just send off for VIP parking tickets, and I guess we will try our luck there. I lived in LA for a few decades - went to many a wild Buffett show with all day pre-party in Irvine, and was so excited to finally see Jimmy come here on a Saturday (last time was '05 at HP Pavillion - and the rather sad and small pre-party turnout was such a surprise after all those SoCal shows!) that I have it all ready - the pop-up tent, table and chairs, decor... is anyone else doing anything like that? I get that the alcohol needs to be discreet (which - really - ought to be a hoot watching all us parrotheads trying to be subtle ... in our grass skirts and coconut bras and hawaiian shirts :-) but - will we be able to snag a spot for our tents?

Okay, yes, I bought *two* parking passes so I had one for the tent. DO NOT JUDGE ME. :-D

Or should we just say screw it and give all our party money/attention to the bar? http://www.sportspagesf.com/ Won't be nearly the same, but I'm wondering if it's worth schlepping all that crap down there and then finding out we can't do anything with it....

I am going to encourage you to bring your tent! We have 2 parking spaces as well in VIP and are bringing trucks- but the easy-up tent is not a bad idea so we'll throw ours in as well if I can find it. We will have plenty of tacky decor and grass skirts. If partying in the VIP lot is more tolerable than the free lots, this may not be so disappointing after all! I am ordering sandwiches though, I don't want someone whizzing in my BBQ after the concert.

Last I heard, 6 PM, unless you're on one of the special lists.

Previous years it's been 5 PM.

In other words, I have no effin' clue. :) I'm on one of the special lists and volunteered to help with some stuff, so I'll probably go over around 4ish. After making a tour of the Sports Page. :)

Yup, VIP opens at 6 pm; just talked to them. But she left out hope by saying every show is different and to call the day of the show for an update...

Well alright then, I think we will give it a shot, althou if we really cannot get in until 6pm it ain't gonna be worth pitching the tent! LOL We'll be the ones with pina colada jello shots!

Pina colada jello shots!! I hope the weather cools down :) We'll be the ones with the bucket-o-margaritas! I guess I'll only bring one bucket if we can't get into the lot until 6. We have to go reserve our lawn space at some point.

for about the second time in at least 2 months, perhaps 3, ticketmaster has plastered a quarter page ad in the merky news about j b's impending arrival. so apparantly, they have a lot of tix they want to push, but yet they are not the greatest seats for the moeny you have to shell out. the ticket brokers (ticketsnow for instance) seem to have a boat load of tix ready to go for a higher price of course. the merky news is getting into the act, by stating that if you become of a friend of theirs on facebook, you will then begin eleible to win a vip package. they are giving away about 25 pairs of tix. you probably have to endure a hard sell for paper subscription to get this. also on ...C L ...the east bay parrotthead club, was promoting a meet and greet with the coral reefers at about 5pm on saturday. perhaps...t t ..may know more about this and can provide more enlighthened info.

Another birthday girl attending the show!! :D (Okay, mine is actually Oct. 17, but who cares?)

We're celebrating this year and bringing the Keets! Probably an insane thing to do but the kids have been begging us to see Jimmy and the show is landing on a Saturday for once. Think we'll try to show up and cruise the VIP parking lot - just to say hi!
With a little love and luck, we'll take the sky!
