One of Jimmy's guitars

In the November, 1999 benefit show at Sag Harbor, Jimmy talks about getting a new guitar from Gary Montero (I think that is what he said) and he was playing it for the first time when he did Grapefruit, Juicy Fruit. It's an electric guitar and has a really mellow, jazzy sound. Did he ever use it in a show? Has anyone ever seen a picture of it? I'm very curious about what happened to it. I just did a Google search but did not find it.

rmissbrook ....... you are now officially my favorite noobie out here.
Although with 250 posts I'll drop that label (it took me about 7 years to top 250 posts).
I'm guessing in a few short weeks your ongoing research and curiosity will far surpass
my 30+ years of Buffett experiences and I'll be coming to YOU for information.

Thank you, Surfpirate. That is high praise indeed. But I still consider myself a "keet" compared to all of you who are active on this forum. I have learned so much from all of you in a very short time.

Lucky you! Any chance you could post a video of you playing it for us? (Big smile)

If anyone is interested, here is the link to the Sag Harbor show where Jimmy plays this gorgeous guitar. He used it when playing Grapefruit, Juicy Fruit.

Kay,
OK, I lied. Bubba never gave me the guitar.
I just wanted to "flush" him out in case he were lurking around the forum
as I'm am sure he must do from time to time.
xxx ooo

That's okay. I sorta figured you were just playing with me instead of the guitar.

I do, however, own an actual signed Martin Jimmy Buffett Polywog acoustic guitar if that counts.

Yup, you get a brownie point for that.

I found a picture of Jimmy playing this Mortoro guitar at the Sag Harbor concert. Does anyone know if he ever played it in public again? It really has a kewl sound but maybe a little too jazzy for most of the music Jimmy does.
