a very good question...I would have to say Riddles in the Sand as well, with Floridays probably second on this list.

By Jimmy himself, it's obviously Somewhere Over China. He plays more songs off of Mango - a horrid album - and Lizard, which is a bizarre album because of the horrendous production, than he does off of China.

Somewhere Over China is an excellent album and the end of his run that started with Changes...

People's responses to this post have inspired me, so I made a mix on my Ipod Shuffle of Jimmy's unappreciated albums. I included "Off to See the Lizard," "Take the Weather with You," "Barometer Soup," "Riddles in the Sand," and "Floridays."

Beach House on the Moon for me. I bet I haven't listened to that cd in at least 2 years. I think I will go home tonight and give it a spin.

I bought this when it came out but didn't listen to the entire album for nearly 2 years. Since then it's become one of favorites and is my vote for Jimmy's most underappreciated album. :D

Coconut Telegraph for me. I love that album from start to finish. Plus it has a cool album cover. The Good Fight is a great song nobody talks about.

I'd say "Lizard" and "Barometer Soup." On the latter, I especially like "Remittance Man." A line from that song is one of Buffett's best: "She was but a gypsy, he was just a stray; they almost made a miracle, but it slowly slipped away...." 8)

I too would like to throw "Barometer Soup" into the mix. For some reason, I associate it with my move to Florida. It's actually one of my favorite Buffett albums.

I too think Hot Water is unappreciated.
Imo the first few songs are kinda so so but from then on it's pretty tropical.

I'm a big fan of American Storyteller, though (I think) it's mostly a re-cut of High Cumberland and Down to Earth.

The other on I like that doesn't get much love is Banana Wind. Jamaica Mistaica, School Boy Heart, and Bob Roberts are all great songs to listen to.

The other one that I thought of was Hot Water. That is easily my favorite JB album.

"Hot Water" gets my vote. It was the first album I bought the day it was released and it stays close to the heart. I love "Smart Woman" and "That's What Livin' is To Me."
