All right, Parrot Heads,

What do you think is Jimmy's most under appreciated album. By "under appreciated" I mean under appreciated by the fans, a really good album that you and I forget about.

My vote is for "Take the Weather with You." I think it's a really good album. There are some songs on it I love, such as "Bama Breeze," "Weather with You," "Reggabilly Hill," "Hula Girl at Heart," "Breathe In, Breathe Out, Move On," and "Duke's on Sunday." However, I often go long, long periods of time without listening to it.

OK, so what's your choice for Jimmy's most under appreciated album, the album that you really like but often go long periods of time without listening to?

Off to See the Lizard

i think this album is written off by most people as a 'cheesy 80's album.'
in reality, Take Another Road and Changing Channels are two of my favorite JB songs.

My first thought as well. I love that album.

The other one that I thought of was Hot Water. That is easily my favorite JB album.

100% agree with Off To See The Lizard, another one is Beach House. I was disappointed in this album when I heard it the first 100 times, but there ended up being some real gems on there that I now love.

Ditto.......I find myself listening to this album quite a bit.

Don't Stop the Carnival. Always been one of my favs, and it really showcases the Reefers.

For me it's Beach House with Lizard a close second.

Favorite Album: Far Side of the World

Unappreciated? Tough one. I think we love them all, but I'll go with Riddles in the Sand. A perfect album which I don't think too many people realize.

Whole-heartedly agree! I am so happy that Jimmy is doing songs from Off To See The Lizard this tour. I have listened to this album a lot lately!!

Deja deja deja vu...believe it and it will come true!! Jimmy worked that in nicely during the Zac Brown song.

Riddles in the Sand always makes me think of Jimmy's and Jane's breakup, and other breakups...

Always love the Galveston reference on Blonde Stranger.

Off to See the Lizard,Barometer Soup, Riddles in the Sand, Coconut Telegraph, Somewhere Over China, and Floridays. These albums all have great songwriting and music and with the exception of a few songs from all of them, most are never played.

On a similar note,being that one of Jimmys most succesful albums was Fruitcakes, does anybody else feel like this album gets severely neglected in concert setlists? With the exception of the title track.

I would say that Last Mango has got to be one of the most unappreciated albums, along with High Cumberland and Down to Earth.

As for Fruitcakes, I don't think it does any worse, in terms of concert plays as any number of other albums. It is one of the difficulties that an artist with such a large and diverse catalog to draw upon. We already know that there are songs that are going to get played at every show. That takes up somewhere between a half to two thirds of the set list, thus leaving very few slots for some of the rare gems.

i see what your saying. but as far as his setlists are concerned we all know he plays mostly what have been his most successful(yellow album songs). fruitcakes was a huge release for him back in '94 and you really cant argue that it was his most succesful album since changes in latitudes. you would think that more from that album would be played more frequently. outside of "fruitcakes" being played every other tour or so.

I agree - it's one of my favorite albums. And if you read the book - it will make you like the music even more.

Riddles in the Sand. One of my favorites that I listen to all of the time. Also Floridays. So full of sadness.

(let me make this note to start off with....very much aside from my earlier post about Off To See the Lizard,)

I think Buffet Hotel has some potential to be mentioned on this thread, but it will be years down the road. I could see someone new to BN bumping this thread in 2020 talking about how great Buffet Hotel is.
No telling how we will judge this album 20 years from now (and in no way am I saying it stacks up against the older ones, please know that!), but I could see some of the songs he recorded for this cd being played on Radio Margaritaville for a long, long time.

i think history will judge this album alot better than we are giving it credit for right now....
