Our usual Parrot Heads are headed to Indy this Saturday and we need to get some details. We usually hit up Riverbend in Cincinnati-since we all know that's where Jimmy got his start- but this year the date didn't work for us so we chose Indy. We need to know what the Verizon Center is like as far as pre-concert festivities. In Cinci there are multiple fields across from the venue that are open for free parking and boozing...is it the same in Indy? Also can you camp in these fields after the concert? Any details would be helpful!

I too have been to Cincy. The tailgating atmosphere is quite different there. In Indy most of the tailgating is done in the grass or gravel parking lots for the venue. There is a campground across the road that we are staying at called Sleepybear but they take reservations and it's been full for a while now. Indy is still a lot of fun but last year in Cincy I felt like I was at a taping of MTV spring break. Don't get me wrong, I love to party. I just appreciate the laid back vibe and music a little more now than when I became a parrothead 11 years ago. Have fun and be safe. There can be a lot of cops patrolling the area afterwards and it's easy to get turned around. Lots of farmland and roads that all look the same.
