Todd, you are so right...the Island House is our little bit of paradise and no we are not moving Stars to P'cola. The Margaritaville Hotel is in the backyard of the Penscola Parrot Head Club. They will be able to bond with this hotel have many wonderful events there.

I saw where some on here have their feathers all blow up about the rates($195 - $450) at the new Margaritaville Hotel in P'cola. Folks you have to remember this hotel is opening up right in the middle of high season (End of May through Labor Day). All hotels on the P'cola beach have high rates during this time. Lordy be, the grand opening might be the weekend of July 4th...just in time to help out all the mom & pop places on the P'cola beach.

I'm so excited about this venue. It's right on one of the most beautiful beaches along the Florida panhandle.

Heading over to the site right now to book me a room!

I have no sweat with the prices, a nice hotel on the beach is always going to be pricey - but I'd want to see pictures of the rooms and amenities before getting excited about going there and figuring out if it's worth the $$.

I agree with you ScarletB...did not realize until yesterday they have not added pictures and amenities to the site. We're going to wait until later this summer to book a room. Think I will just drive over after the grand opening which is only 1 1/2 hour from my house and look over the property. Not going anywhere near the beach during the 4th of July.

OK, got my request back for out reservation:

Thank you for your Reservation Request at our brand new and first ever Margaritaville Hotel. We are excited about our opening and hope you will be too. This is just a follow up email to let you know we have received your request. We don't have a definite opening date, we are targeting the end of June beginning of July. As soon as we open we will be able to guarantee your reservation. You requested 2 room, 1 king bed, facing the Gulf, and 1 adjoining king bed room, on June 28-30, the rate for that room type on that date will be $329.00 plus tax per night. If you have any questions or concerns you can email me back.Again this is just a request not a guaranteed reservation. Thank you again for your request.

WOW! $350 a night!?!

We are still waiting for our request response for Cat's birthday in July, but if this is the rate, sorry Cat, but I think we'll make a road trip to Lulu's and Gulf Shores instead. But we will stop at the hotel's Tiki Bar and have lunch.

Are we correct that JB is still supposed to be building the other resort in Hollywood Beach, FL??

I drove over to Pensacola Beach today to take a look at the project. First, I will apologize that I am having difficulties in uploading the photos I took. But suffice that what you see on the web site is about all you can see from the road since the property is completely gated for a construction site.

What looks to be the Tiki Bar is under construction on the east end of the facility. It's located directly on the beach. The Pool Deck is above the garage. Furniture is in place but I could see additional lumber on the deck so obviously there is more to construction to come. There was local restaurant supply company's truck parked there so the kitchens and bars must be getting their equipment installed.

It certainly looks like there is a lot of work yet to be done before July 1st. Oh, and by the way, there wasn't any signage in place yet. We are keeping July 1st open so we can have a boat drink in the Tiki Hut.

Strangely quiet here regarding the Margaritaville Beach Resort. Obviously the J.B. and Friends Gulf Coast Concert is taking the headlines. We are wondering if the resort still plans to be open on July 1st? For some of us who can't be in Gulf Shores, the resort in Pensacola would be a nice place to have a boat drink and watch the CMT broadcast. Any updates out there?

FYI...this Sunday is a open house from 1-4.. I would think at some point this week its almost a given Jimmy has to show up..the concert is on Thursday and thats the actual opening day of hotel. No way he can have his first hotel ever and not show when he is right down the road. Im gonna stop by on Sunday. Will take some pics and will need help on how to post them here. I just hope Im lucky enough to be there when he drops by..last year I stumbled in Margaritaville Cozumel and low and behold he, Mac and Nadira showed..best show ever..5 feet in front of him along with maybe 200 other people..maybe my luck will hold!!

We called the Resort Saturday afternoon. Spoke to a nice young lady named Emily. She indicated that the Resort would be open for business Monday, June 28. She also said that the restaurant (Frank and Lola's) and the lounge would be open. I guess that's where we'll spend happy hour Monday.
