Great Sing-a-long Songs...

Each June, I take a group of 5th graders to Washington, D.C. for 4 days. In the past, the other chaperones have created a CD or two with songs the kids enjoy singing along to. Songs like We Will Rock You, I Love Rock and Roll, and Shout! are always big hits. They've left it up to me to make a CD this year. Anybody got any ideas? Keep in mind this is for 10 and 11 year-olds so no profanity.

American Pie

I used to work in Chicago. Ok maybe this is more appropriate for teens.

When I was in elementary school our bus driver , (who later became a preacher) had us singing Three Dog Nights "Joy To

The World", yes I am that dusty. Maybe you should try some songs from the "Glee" album. Some really good songs that

are rather popular again.

I find kids of all ages know Motown and Beetles songs (from advertising and movies). Someone mentioned Glee - probably a good idea. I-tune downloads from Amercian Idol this season may be good as well.

As an aside...I might use the opportunity to introduce them to rock quality...like Springsteen :D
