We enjoyed both forts, and got a lot of great pictures at both.

Be sure to buy some Ron del Barrilitos Three Star rum.

And if you like cigars, find Don Collins. http://www.don-collins.com/ I highly recommend them and the Quilambo (Little Cigar) are the BEST!

Take a walk to the left through the park by the docks down to the tourist info center, stroll a little further down to the old fort walls and then head back into Old San Juan and have a couple of boat drinks at the Parrot Club. http://www.oofrestaurants.com/ Great bartenders and the appetizers were excellent. Its a quick walk back to the ship past Hard Rock and lots of souvenir shops.
We were there once on a Sunday afternoon. They had a big street party going on with rumba music and dancing. Lots of fun!

San Juan is my least favorite of all ports of call I've been to on cruises.
But El Morro is a must do imo.

If you are into shore excursions, we took a trip to the rain forest a few years back that was good. About an hour each way on a bus.

Ditto on the forts and the rum. SJ is so rich in history. We were there in June as well, If you visit the forts take water with you, lots of walking and very high humidity. Enjoy
