Parrotheads united to the Gulf of Mexico!

We as parrotheads love the gulf of Mexico. I also understand that most of us want to help when we see a need.

I see a need.

Our friends and neighbors on the coast are hurting due to the loss of tourism revenue all up and down the coast due to the act of criminal negligence (I refuse to view it as anything but) perpetuated upon it this summer.
I live about 3- 31/2 hours north of the coast and just fueled my truck up, while I was at the station I struck a conversation with a guy fueling up from Tennessee. He told me that his family usually went to the gulf right before school started back in the fall but this year they were going down early since his neighbors told him that the act of criminal negligence would definitely be coming ashore later in the summer. He told me that most everyone he spoke to was trying to move their plans up due to this.
So that got me to thinking, we need to plan a party to help our friends on the coast.
Not a normal party where we take over a bar or a beach or heck even a city......its time for all parrotheads to come together and plan a party assault on the Redneck Riviera, on the whole dang northern gulf coast.
We need to pick a weekend when the beach towns are going to be slowing down in a good season and get the phlock on down there.
But in order for this to work we need to reach out to as many other groups, organizations and people as possible. The PHCs need to reach out and organize this. Heck we need to invite the general population via news outlets and the media.
If we make it a party....they will come. We will all have a good time and drop some much needed coin.

Discuss.

Count me in. Are you a member of a Parrothead club? I would think that's where it would have to start. Getting your chapter to talk to other chapters, getting some PR on Beach Front Radio, MargaritaMafia.com, Trop-Rock.com, etc. Let each PH Club stir up interest and attendance and play host in a particular beach town, perhaps.

I'm not a member of a PH Club, so I'm a free agent, so to speak.

I got dibs on Panama City Beach.

I'm the one man member of the Central Alabama Rod, Gun, Bloodymary's and Jimmy Buffett music waterskiing club. Is that a start?
Oh and this club is behind this project 100%. In fact a couple of weeks ago I loaded up and rode down just to spend the weekend (and some cash) at Gulfshores. While I was there I wentto the Flora-Bama got a table on the second floor overlooking the gulf, drank Bushwhackers and watched diligently for any sign that the criminal negligence was coming ashore.
I felt I had to do my part while I was there.
But seriously I'm not a PHC member BUT I feel that this is the kind of idea that a PHC club member should take control of run with it (with my blessing of course).
I stand by to help any and every PHC clubber or solitary phan or heckeven people who don't like Jimmy get to the coast for this.

Oh and as for now, until someone with professional skills in public relations and getting the ball rolling comes along I hereby annoit you as "2nd in command of the first annual late summer Adult spring break get away". If you feel that you are pirate enough for the job.
Of course hopefully someone will look at this idea and say "Thats a Damn good idea, We are going to take over and promote this complete with T-shirts anda dance contest.". At which time we will turn it over to them and stumble over for another drink.

I think I need to change the name of this thread to something like "If we party, they will come."
