The great American BBQ sauce taste test
by Epicurious.com,

We tried 22 traditional barbecue sauces, but only 2 had us singing, "I want my baby back, baby back…"

Barbecue sauce does for meat what butter does for mashed potatoes; one can't be its best self without the other. This statement may be exaggerated, but oftentimes grilling isn't right without barbecue sauce, and a bad one can really mess up your meal. You can always make your own, but for quick and hassle-free cooking, many Americans turn to bottled sauces. So we decided to taste the offerings and choose our favorites.

I'm not surprised SBR was the winner. It's pretty good for bottled. I'm partial to Famous Dave's and Jack Daniels myself.

i know this article is talking about bottled sauces but....

i'm vegetarian, so that's the big reason that bbq is not my thing. but even if you're talking about cheese, veggies, chips or anything like that... i've never liked anything bbq or smoke flavored or chargrilled, etc. i do like to cook on a grill, but i don't like those deep black grill marks on my food.

the only exception i've ever found to that is that i just love the bbq slaw from Macon Rd bbq in Columbus, GA. omg that stuff is just too freakin' good on samiches Image

i've tried to find something at the store that tastes similar, and never have had any luck. and i've always thought it was wierd that as much as i really love that stuff, i've never been able to find anything else in that family of foods that didn't have me wishing i could spit it in my napkin

I love SBR on chicken, though I haven't used it on anything else--strikes me as sweeter than I want on ribs.

My company is based in Sheboygan Falls, so I've recently tried the Secret Stadium Sauce.

Unfortunately, I wasn't impressed (it reminded me of Arby's BBQ Sauce)

But, the cool thing about sauces is that there are plenty out there and we all have our favorites. :D

I prefer Stadium Mustard (imported from Cleveland to the Tarheel State) on a brat.

As far as BBQ Sauce, my preference is vinegar based with a little bit of kick to it.

We have a small BBQ place in Midland (bone daddy's) that is run by a local fellow. His ribs have won contests all over the US. He has won a very prestigious one in Las Vegas or was it Tahoe? Anyway, his stuff has beat competitors form Memphis and Texas. His sauce is to die for. He also smokes the meat with applewood.
