For years this moron claimed he would never rate a Great Lakes beach because they were to cold.
He has never stepped off a plane once in the G.L. Region to even see them for himself. Then today he names a beach in the Hamptons as the number one in the country???? So lake Ontario is to Cold but the Hamptons is the balmy tropics???????
Why would he do this????? because he is getting tons of money from the winners Chamber of Commerce. He even mentions in his press release that most towns see a 20% increase in beachgoers when he names a new beach.
This guy is the anti Dr.BEach, hes Dr. Moneybags

I can't be the only one with this question...who is Dr. Beach? Did you intend to have link to a story here?
For me...if the beach I like was named and 3 times the number of people showed up next summer...I'd be pretty p***. Perhaps its a blessing for you that all the North East yahoos will head out to the Hamptons (and pay 3 times the money) to vacation there - I think that could be your satisfaction

I was in Chicago for the first time last summer for the Buffett show and we stayed right on the lake. I was expectingugly green lake water but to my suprise it was carribean blue, they had a nice size beach including palm trees!

It is nice out there but did they have cheese steaks "down the shore"?

Dr. Beach is on facebook too:

I really enjoyed reading his top picks years ago...so the very best have already been named and can't be named again??
Once a beach makes it to the top spot, it is retired from consideration in future years, he said. Leatherman added that designation as the country's No. 1 beach usually brings as much as a 20 percent bump in tourism.

Re: Dr. Beach is in it for money.
I'll start off by saying I've never been to any beaches in the Great Lakes region and I've never been to the Hamptons. Now ...
And in the grand scheme of things it really isn't worth getting your panties twisted over something like this.
Have you ever been to the Hamptons? If you haven't, it's kind of hypocritcal to go off on a rant about this guy never going to the Great Lakes region if you have no point of reference on which to base that rant.msu#1 wrote:For years this moron claimed he would never rate a Great Lakes beach because they were to cold.
