Re: Sail On Dennis Hopper
Very sad... another huge loss in the acting world.
I think, out of all his outrageous characters, I enjoyed his role in Hoosiers the most.
sail on, brother

Re: Sail On Dennis Hopper
I loved him in EASY RIDER and HOOSIERS, too, but my favorite DH movie was FLASHBACK.

Not a lot of people saw the film, but it's one of my all-time favorites. I have the soundtrack ...
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0099581/
Here are some quotes ... Hopper was aging hippie Huey Walker ... Kiefer Sutherland was FBI agent John Buckner.
Huey Walker: You know what your problem is?
John Buckner: What?
Huey Walker: You like me. You just won't admit it.
John Buckner: Let me tell you something, Mr. Walker...
Huey Walker: What happened to "Huey?"
John Buckner: When you were riding around on your Indian and wiping your ass with the American flag, my father was in Vietnam. He fought there, and he died there too. So don't tell me I like you, because I hate your f**** guts, okay?
Huey Walker: I'm sorry about your dad. (Buckner shrugs) Yeah, I wiped my ass with the flag, I did. Gave me a rash.
And another one ...
Huey Walker: It takes more than going down to your local video store and renting Easy Rider to become a rebel.
Here's a hilarious scene.
Here's a song from the movie ... also, one of my all-time favorites ... and I didn't even like Jefferson Airplane.
I think I'll order this on DVD ...
Sail on, Dennis. You entertained us for so long. Now, enjoy the ride.

Re: Sail On Dennis Hopper
Once upon a time (a thousand years ago or so) I harbored a dream of becoming not just an actor but a world famous movie star. It was because of fantastic, true to themselves people like Dennis Hopper that a scared little kid from a p*** ass town in Nowhere, CT could have those dreams. I don't know the guy, never met him, but I do know that I always treasured every performance of his I've ever seen, and unfortunately now I'll treasure them that much more, because there will be no more new ones being made.
Sail on Dennis. And on behalf of thousands of actors over many generations, I say thank you.

Take me for what I am, a star newly emerging.
I accept the new found man, and I set the twilight reeling.
