Why do they have to burn the recovered Gas and Oil?
Why can't they just process it?

Just a guess but burning it gets rid of it much quicker. It's hurricane season there and that may be a consideration.

I imagine it's contaminated and may not be worth saving to process. Also, it saves time and resources they'll (hopefully) use in other areas that drastically need it.

It looks like if they burn a portion of the oil, it enables them to capture more of the leak.
