We all know that Buffett is opening up the hotel on July 1st, but I have heard some rumors here in Alabama about Buffett doing a benefit concert on July 1st in Gulf Shores, AL. Has anyone else heard anything about this. The source I heard this from stated that an announcement would be made Tuesday June 22nd.

That would be great! By the way, this was mentioned as a FREE concert.

I was just refering to the Tallahassee show in Feb. 2007 which benefited the Big Bend United Way and the Margaritaville NOLA show in May, 2008 which benefited musicians effected by Hurricane Katrina. They were not free concerts. How do you raise money for a charitable cause with a free concert?

Maybe Jimmy is doing it for free, but tickets will still be sold.

JB just mentioned it at the Mansfield concert tonight. He said it would be in Gulf Shores, Alabama on July 1st. Jimmy, Zac Brown, Kenny, Chesney, Sonny Landreth and others will be performing a benefit concert. Wish we lived closer and could go!

Just heard Jimmy announce during live concert broadcast on Margaritaville satelite radio station that there WILL be a FREE concert in Gulf Shores, AL on July 1st...!!!

Glad i live within easy driving/tailgating distance... every airport around here will be filled with Parrotheads from near and far! I CANT WAIT!!!

I knew there was another good reason for living in the panhandle of FL and having good friends that live less than an hour from Gulf Shores, with a BIG house...

Holy f*k. With a lineup like that, people will be 100 deep at the ticket counter, especially for a free show. Jimmy, ZBB, *and* Kenny? I think my jaw bounced off the carpet when I read that.

If I could get tickets, I'd extend my stay next weekend and drive up from central FL. It would be worth inconveniencing my Day Job for a few days.

I assume they've figured out a way to raise money from this. I sincerely hope that it doesn't turn out that the scalpers get all the profits.

Ah well...I'll just have to listen on RM. (*shrug*)

JB's said the concert would be on the beach! Any ideas exactly where? Is there a beach large enough for all us gypsies???

From what I have gathered, the show will be set up on the beach in the public park at the end of Hyw. 59. This was the same location as the Hangout Beach Music and Arts Festival back in May.
