Multiple sources Monday afternoon were reporting that Jimmy Buffett's Thursday concert on the beach in Gulf Shores, Ala., would be postponed over safety concerns related to Tropical Storm Alex.

Kaiser Realty, a prominent vacation realty company in Gulf Shores, posted a notice to its http://www.seegulfshores.com website Monday afternoon that the concert was being postponed.

"Because the Jimmy Buffett & Friends Concert is being held directly on the beach, the current full moon creating high tides (3-4 foot seas today and 5-6 foot seas Wednesday and possibly Thursday as well), along with the storm in the Gulf creating higher seas, the concert has been postponed," the statement on the website read.

Because the Jimmy Buffett & Friends Concert is being held directly on the beach, the current full moon creating high tides (3-4 foot seas today and 5-6 foot seas Wednesday and possibly Thursday as well), along with the storm in the Gulf creating higher seas, the concert has been postponed.

Unfortunately, the artists are unable to postpone the concert for a day or two or later in the weekend. We will be updating our website and Facebook pages with the new dates as soon as they are released.

About 1PM Central time today, I got a call from someone trying to get me tickets and they had spoken with the local Government, the message was "you don't have to worry about the tickets right now, it is cancelled." So as time went by I thought maybe it was a mistake, so I called back to verify, it is one of those things where inside the loop people knew, but waiting for a formal announcement this afternoon. Unless there is a miracle, it is actually cancelled. The water (surf) along the Coast has really got high for an early season storm far away from the Gulf Coast. so I guess an oily surf even makes singing in a Hurricane bad. Bad run of luck.

Local ABC news says concert organizers are meeting now and an official announcement will be made at 4:30, that's central time.
