Problem is there is "no bad weather" they are going to be doing business as usually, they don't recognize "stage instability" as a reason for trip insurance.

Try telling them that the event you were attending was postponed because of a weather-related issue. If weather hadn't postponed the event you were traveling to, you wouldn't need to change your flight. If they say business is going on 'as usual' tell them your event certainly isn't going on and it's specifically due to weather. Good luck!!

There is bad weather! The surf is four or five feet higher than normal and is causing the surf to flood the beaches, thus making it unsafe to have 35,000 to 50,000 partying concert goers splashing at night. Plus you have electrical issues as well, as in water is a good conductor. Here is what I would do, in one of Clint Eastwood's movies, he said, "sometimes you got to get mean, I mean mad dog mean". Try to State your case, if that doesn't work, then tell what you are going to do, compare them to BP, ask for their VP, tell them you are taking it to the media outlets, (and do it) Call the local Governments (Gulf Shores and Orange Beach), Alabama State Government, (Governors Office) None of them will like Delta's policy. You were trying to help support the area by spending your money, that was the plan, now Delta is trying to make you pay for Mother Nature's change. If you get loud enough, you will get it waived. One last thing if you know your KY State Senator, call them, have them join the fight. Good Luck

I know it probably doesn't apply here, but something to keep in mind. IF an airline changes your flight times that doesn't fit your plans, it is within your right to change them without the penalty. AA changed my plans for KW, so I called them and complained. I was able to get an earlier flight and land in KW earlier with no fee.

I would say keep calling the airline that you are dealing with (a couple of times a day) to see if they can refund the penalty. Does insurance protect you against bad weather?
Thats why I always fly Southwest. If you dont fly you get full credit for another flight at a later date. If you need to change you pay the difference. Southwest goes to Panama City now and is an opition with a rental car. I quit Continental years ago when I tried to get out of Philly early and they wanted $1000. I ended up on Airtran for like $300.

from al.com today:
http://blog.al.com/live/2010/06/jimmy_b ... tpone.html
Craft said that municipal officials made the call to postpone the concert Monday afternoon after reviewing updated weather forecasts and learning that the vast stage being erected at the public beach would not be safe if water washed beneath it.

Up until lunchtime, city employees, tourism officials and concert organizers were working frantically to ready the beach for a crowd of 35,000 and a national television audience. The City Council met at 9 a.m. to review those preparations, which included a plan for 175 buses to ferry concertgoers from as far away as north Foley, a temporary triage facility, a no-boating zone stretching over much of Baldwin County's shoreline, and a system to allow 15 local bars and restaurants to share in the event's beer sales.

From the Margaritaville.com webisite:
Gulf Shores Benefit Concert Postponed Until July 11th
Due to concerns about surf conditions on the Alabama beach where the concert was scheduled to take place, the Jimmy Buffett and Friends benefit concert scheduled for this Thursday has been postponed until Sunday, July 11th.

“Nobody hates this more than I do but I guess, as the song says, it’s hard to reason with hurricane season,” Jimmy said. “For those going anyway, thank you. My sister Lulu will take good care of you. For the rest of you, we will see you July 11th!”

This is sad news. I'll look forward to the show on the 11th, but I feel bad for the people who have already made travel plans for the 1st. Good luck to everybody.

In other words, we don't know yet: :-?

"CMT executives were working late Monday to determine production logistics for the possibility of airing the July 11 show."

For anyone out there who is now unable to attend, I will gladly take your tickets off your hands. I was unable to attend the original date because of work, but I could make it now. PM me if anyone wishes to part with any. I can ue one but would prefer two if possible. Thanks!
Got to stop wishin', got to go fishin'......
