Re: Who's going to Gulf Shores, Alabama July 11?
In looking at the stage pictures, it appears as though the stage will face the east, towards the open beach area next to the parking lot going towards The Hangout. That's the only place on the beach that could hold 35,000 people in a single spot, without flowing into the condos. The back of the stage will face the Island Winds East/West. You could watch the show from your balcony if you're staying there. Regardless of who shows up, Jimmy's coming, and it'll be a blast.
The gates will open at 3 PM. What time do you think the line will start? Its going to be hot. Someone posted elsewhere about a Landshark Pass for the day, which I guess gives you unlimited Landsharks. There should be plenty of tents/booths selling margaritas, mojitos, and landsharks.
I also heard that across the street from the beach, or somewhere next to the area, there will be some big screens airing the show. Also heard they would sell tickets in a barricaded area to watch these big screens. No word on parking yet, I'll have to check the website. With 35,000 coming to GS, I would imagine there will be long waits at restaurants.

If you want an experience, go to a Jimmy Buffett concert.
Experience is something you don't get until just after you need it.

Hi Michelle! So good that we will see you all again. The beach and beer party sounds great. Cathi, Professor Utley and I do it every night at the Whale's Tail. Now that we have a quorum, where would like to take this party? Maybe at someone's condo beach access? We would love to join you guys. Anyone play guitar. I'll bring the djembe.NEO wrote:catsway wrote:We have been reviewing all the entertainment options around Gulf Shores on Saturday night. Can anyone recommend some good live entertainment after 10pm?
We could always hang on the beach, with a cooler of beer.

Yes, they are!! We checked into Island Winds yesterday. Looks like Island winds east will be "backstage" and the stage will be facing east. We're in the west building. We were watching them set up from the pool. Hubby and I were joking around that maybe we should just listen from there. No crowds, no heat and homemade cocktailsCarolinadreamin' wrote:OMG!!!!!!! We walked around the whole set up yesterday. The fencing they have up so far is very sturdy. There are bulldozers out there now creating what looks like a big trench?? There's certainly a lot of activity over there!
We've always wanted to come down here and this was the perfect excuse to go for it. So far we hit the new Margaritaville hotel (very nice, very classy, very expensive looking!), the landshark pavillion (looks like could be a fun place but it was dead), the winn dixie and the liquor store (thanks for the tip!), the florabama (again looked like could be fun but was dead the time of day we were there and the bushwacker gave us brain freeze!) then the hotel and then Lulu's (omg, so much more than we expected! Awesome!). We're having a great adventure exploring the area. We're about to head over to the aviation museum and maybe get lucky enough to see the Blue angels practice a little. Anywhere else anyone would recommend to check out?

I know its going to be difficult to get around the Margaritaville Hotel this weekend (with the air show going on)....however, my flight doesn't leave until about 6pm on Monday. Anyone else around on Monday that would like to meet up there for lunch??

Re: Who's going to Gulf Shores, Alabama July 11?
Hello, everyone~ Just saw this question and the answer on yahoo answers and thought it warranted consideration, and was time someone had the guts to say it. And I agree. What's done is done, and a lot of the tickets that were gotten just to resell are just gone for good. But I've seen a couple folks on facebook try to find a buyer for a ticket they don't need or can't use up for sale. And though you've got hundreds of people asking, in every discussion/post, for someone to give them their tickets- which ain't gonna happen- they won't let anyone offer to sell one without biting their head off. That's just stupid. Who can blame someone for choosing to sell a ticket so they'll have enough money to use theirs? Ease up, get real, and remember there's a big picture here. .....................................................
Open Question
Where can someone post an e-ticket to the Jimmy Buffett concert at the Gulf Coast this weekend for sale?
Hello all! I realize what a can of worms I may be opening by bringing this up, but it seems like the all the public outrage over dyed-in-the-wool scalpers obtaining Gulf Coast concert tickets for the sole purpose of selling them for profit has just made it harder for fans to attend, not easier. The tickets that were immediately posted for sale were not canceled. So rather than being bought by people who would gladly attend and support local tourism, which was the point, they'll just go to waste, since it's not worth the trouble for the scalpers to try to sell them. So now not only does the Average Joe fan not get to attend, but but neither will a person with enough money to buy the ticket, rent accommodations, eat in the restaurants and tip their servers and buy souvenirs. No one thinks what they did was right, but as long as tickets have been sold there have been those that capitalize on supply and demand. There will always be Have's and Have Not's, and it always sucks to be the one without. I have a friend that got 4 tickets just the way she was supposed to, took off work 2days off work to attend with her husband and in-laws, arranged to pay a sitter for 4 kids, and reserved a motel room for the July 1 show. Since it was postponed due to the tropical storm, her in-laws didn't go, but her and her husband went anyway, as she had already paid for the room and had someone else scheduled to work in her place. Now she still has the 4 concert tickets, but for her and her husband to go back this weekend she needs to sell the 2 that her in-laws won't be here to use. So how is that so wrong? And why shouldn't she be allowed to make a practical financial decision that will result in not only more of her dollars supporting local businesses, but also someone who could spend even more? Every time I've seen a post on facebook, news discussion pages, etc., where someone says that have a ticket for sale, and they're attacked and insulted by those who act like it was stolen from them personally. It was luck of the draw, and there will always be profiteers. I wonder how those die-hard fans, so violently opposed to the sale of a ticket or two, would answer this: you have two tickets to hear your favorite performer~ that you were lucky enough to win for free~ to a show that will be one of the most memorable highlights of your life, but you just can't afford to miss a day's minimum wage, and you'd still need to buy gas, food, sleep somewhere, and hey~you gotta buy a t-shirt, but you know this chance will never come along again. Do you give away both tickets because you got them for free, or do you sell one to someone who just wants to go and doesn't care that they have to pay for it? So now you have people afraid to even say in public that they need to sell a ticket so they can enjoy going, too. And you also have people that want to go and can provide a real boost to the local economy, but can't find a ticket. Just a thought...

This is the only place I've seen them, and she's only got the two she couldn't use after it was postponed July 1st. http://us.ebid.net/for-sale/ticket-for- ... 604437.htm I agree with you that the true scalpers probably just trashed them when they couldn't list them on the usual sites because of complaints. I think it's awful that someone would get them knowing they weren't going and just trying to sell them, but that's what they do with every one of his shows too, knowing they will sell out. What makes this even worse than anything else is that there are Parrotheads out there that spare no expense to attend those sold-out shows as a matter of course. And their money (spent where it was needed most!) would have done a lot more good than punishing some a$$@&%e for being a greedy jerk. because he's not out anything at all~ the town is.Anyway, I just hope that this is just the kick-start they need to bring that gorgeous city back to a full and happy life again! God Bless!

Not sure about actual open container "law", but they say no glass, use a koozie or a cup and you'll be fine. We walked the beach with cocktails and saw others.
