it is an awesome beach all the way from Perdido over you know.. there is this little party down there in Mid-March.. could be a good time to head back down

GULF SHORES, Ala. -- A series of free beach concerts may be in the works on the Alabama coast, courtesy of BP.

A free Jimmy Buffett concert Sunday drew thousands to the beach in Gulf Shores.

Officials say they hope to line up a string of big-name performersthrough the fall with funding from BP, whose oil spill has hurt tourismon the Gulf of Mexico coast.

Promoters say acts may include country singers Faith Hill and Zac Brown and soft rocker Jack Johnson.

The free shows would help lure visitors to the beach where Buffett played and generate business for hotels, condominiums, restaurants and stores.

A $15 million tourism grant from BP could be used to stage the shows. About $3.5 million in tourism promotion money from BP paid for the Buffett concert. The performers donated their time.

Hey everyone, I just got home and have caught up on all the posts.

It was great seeing everyone and meeting all the BN'ers that I only knew by name.

Friday, Saturday and yesterday was wild....I was a busy MotherHen.
When I posted for everyone to come find me...you all did so good!!!!!

On Friday the "Buffett Fairy" called me. I had VIP wristbands to give to out to all the ones that had tickets or did not have tickets. The only thing the
"Buffett Fairy" asked was...that if you got one of these wristbands and had tickets you were to go out and spread the love. If you were in a store or where most of us were in a bar and a local or a family that came to Gulf Shores without tickets..you were to give your tickets to them.

The VIP wristband was their ticket to get into the concert and we all were standing on the right side of the stage.

My cell phone did not stop....I had people calling me telling me who they gave their tickets to and a lot of the stories were priceless and I had tears in my eyes.

I so happy that the "Boat Drunks" got to play at the FloraBama...that was so cool!!!!!!!

Now I can mark this once in a lifetime concert off my bucket list. Cause I know I will never again get to see Jimmy on the beach like we did yesterday.

Sitting in the P'cola airport with a flight delay. Of course we found the liquor store R2. : ).
Charlotte, thank you from the bottom of my heart....we paid it forward with pleasure! It was a dream come true!

We just finished watching the show via our DVR. I kept looking for shots in the VIP section, to see if anyone we recognized made the "close up". Low and behold at 25:21 remaining, there Cat and I were during "Where the Boat Leaves From". A bit later we could see Pat and her friends. Pat was holding an Alabama banner. Late in the broadcast, we saw many of our new friends from BN and Lulu's having a great time. What a great time! Thank you Charlotte for your generosity.

I don't think we saw each other

I managed to obtain a media pass. It didn't get me backstage or close enough to get any better than average photos (I'll post some tomorrow night hopefully). But it did turn my ticket loose to pass on down the line. As I was discussing using the media pass to go back out and hand it out everyone around me that had an extra ticket or two began to just give them to me. I was outside in the street @ the hangout when HOT HOT HOT started handing out tickets like Christmas candy (I wound up with 11) and missed the start of the show but the ability to spread the love was...well it was as priceless as getting to see Jimmy on the beach.
For those of you who were down on our beach for the first time I hope that you will consider this place for your vacations when the leak has been stopped and the world turns right side up down there again.
I wonder how many new brothers and sisters of the feathered phlock we managed to gain this weekend?

Gov Crist showed up at the Pensacola airport around 2pm - was there for a LONG time chatting up people

This morning's paper says First Lady Obama was visiting Bay County (Panama City area) on Monday. Gov. Crist was probably in transit to/from meeting with her.

We are all ready looking at booking a house for next summer for a week or two for a outing down in the Gulf Shores Area. What a great area with kind folks that smiled, said thanks for being there. We spent a day just out on the beach, then spent a couple of days really helping the economy.. I now have at least 5 new Golf Visors and Do not want to talk about what all we bought at the Tommy Bahama Outlet mall... Overall great time with good friends and some new friends..

Hope everyone made it home safe, we drove our 1002 miles with breaks in 16 1/2 hour's. Got in last night around midnight...Time to mow the lawn, TAKE CARE.

First, let me second (third or fourth) the "thank you's" to Mother Hen...you truly helped make this a once in a lifetime experience!

Billy Ray...we went to Tommy Bahama yesterday....Dale's blaming you for not finding anything to buy...he said you bought it all up. Don't worry though..I made up for it in the Coach outlet.

Linda...have you taken your VIP bracelet off yet? We were pretty sure yesterday that she was going to have it bronzed to her arm.

Truly a pleasure to meet so many of you this weekend...what a great time!!
