Too bad you can't combine the tailgate at Toyota Park with the concert at Tinley, they're just "down the street" from each other (same street, about 11 miles between :D)

I didn't see the same experience at Alpine this year, but maybe it was because I was stationed in the "Green Lot" (I assure you people in that lot have a much more subdued tailgate...)

But Matt's tailgate is really something to see....
Tinley Park - June 30, Alpine - ???, Vegas -???

Actually, Alpine WASN'T sold out. The day of the conert, Ticket&astard still had reserved seats available at list price. Single seats, upper rows, sure. But you could get them. Lawn tickets were all gone tho.

Many of our friends are going to Chicago this year after Alpine's announcement that you 'had to have a ticket'. Glad that I stuck with Alpine - great tailgate, awsome music, and no rain. it doesn't get better than that!

I just talked to a few friends tonight who are huge parrotheads, They like me, refuse to go to Toyota Park because of the sound and everything....
Did you hear the one about me being a punk?
Did you hear the one about me being a drunk?
Did you hear the one about me losing my nerve?
Or how I'm just another f**** sheep in the herd?
Did you hear the one about me giving a s***?
Cause if I ever did I don't remember it.

Yet you have other friends who think the sound at Toyota Park is much better and have liked the venue a lot.

All of the shows I have been to at Toyota Park (which has been at least 20) have sounded awesome. Acoustics were great...every time.

Despite Tinley/Tweeter being an "ampitheatre", the acoustics were deplorable at best. I went to my last show I will ever go to at Tinley last summer. Between the acoustics and the equally lame tailgate, I won't go back there for anything. It should be turned into a landfill.

I agree with you entirely--went to a lot of concerts at Tinley--between the bad sound system, the huge beams blocking views from a lot of seats, the slanted, concrete floor--glad to be done with that place!

But the land is way too valuable for landfill!

Then I recommend getting out of the lawn seats and move on up to the front of the house. First 15 rows have awesome sound.

I have sat there and in plenty of other seats at that venue. They are a little better, but not much. I find it funny that every other venue set up in a similar manner can achieve acceptable sound quality over the entire venue, yet Tinley still struggles.

Besides, why should someone be required to sit in the first 15 rows for a decent show? So is that to say that the people in row 16 and back and all of the scumbags on the lawn don't deserve the same quality or experience as the royalty sitting in the first 15 rows?

Even though a lawn peasant like myself has had the privilege and honor of sitting with royalty on several occasions, I still prefer the lawn, as does the large group I go with. Perhaps it has something to do with the immediate surroundings.
