to clarify my above posts -

We have ALOT of newbies that haven't been controversial and may be reading this. I don't want to scare them off by having them think that we won't associate with them if they don't have a huge post count

I've never told anyone this until now, but the mods sometimes give me virtual backrubs and candy.

I wouldn't say that the 100 post minimum is a "huge" requirement...

When asked about the anullment, Renee was quoted as saying "it weren't no big thing."

I joined April 2001.

I only had 50 posts from that date until early 2008. I was a classic lurker and only posted when I had something intelligent to say.

Around March '08 I decided to toss that whole *intelligent thing to say* requirement out.

Nor are we, the voting public, blameless either...because we keep voting these yahoos into office without researching their background, their views, their affiliations, their supporters. Many entertainers spout their political beliefs, that is nothing new either. But few actually do anything other than write a check, if that. Jimmy is trying to make a difference for the people, wildlife and environment of the gulf. How about we concentrate on that and leave the political stuff aside? For those of you lucky enough to be able to attend this event, spend a little time talking to the folks who live and work in this region and find out how they are really being affected, then report back to us. We're a resourceful group, I bet we can find a way to help. Let's stop the bickering and blaming and find out what is *really* going on...and then do what we parrotheads do best: Party with a purpose. :D
Great response...I completely agree. I thought everyone was upset with BP. I was a little surprised to see people backing their political agendas. There is an entire region of our country in need. I think we should concentrate on helping and not discussing politics.

Please know that people are passionate about this on both side. I believe we have folks here that are intelligent enough to listen to other points of view and debate with out taking things to a personal level.
I'll assume this doesn't include politicians of both parties?

Here's a great Daily Show clip, showing how the last 8 Presidents (3 Democrats, 5 Republicans) have told us how they'd get our country away from dependence on foreign oil. The original timeline of 1980 is now 2025....maybe. "We've redefined success...and still failed"
