Please know that people are passionate about this on both side. I believe we have folks here that are intelligent enough to listen to other points of view and debate with out taking things to a personal level.
I'll assume this doesn't include politicians of both parties?
Or little shrimps like Chesney?

The original timeline of 1980 is now 2025....maybe. "We've redefined success...and still failed"

Living on the gulf coast myself we were excited about supporting the cause while enjoying another buffet show as we always do, but to drive 14 hrs. to sit through a bunch of political rhetotic, then we'll pass. We've been to five buffet shows and look forward to watching him every year now. Hell, we have to drive from South Padre Island to Dallas Texas and always had an awsome time. I'd just simply rather watch a great show for a great cause than to sit through a democratic convention. I know Jimmy's a huge Liberal which is fine, but I've always been greatful that he has'nt turned into a barbra strisand. Maybe he's been spending too much time with his liberal, elite, rich, pompas, friends from the hamptoms. For the record, I realize Bush might have let things slide as far as the oil companies were concerned, but Jimmy's buddy Clinton did not do much better to regulate things and Obama was not going to do a damm thing about as well. They are all polititians and for jimmy to pick one out of those three out is extremely hypoctitical. Two tickets going to waste.
If you are going to trash someone's political beliefs, at least you could spell the name correctly - BUFFETT...geez

Just sayin.....

Nor are we, the voting public, blameless either...because we keep voting these yahoos into office without researching their background, their views, their affiliations, their supporters. Many entertainers spout their political beliefs, that is nothing new either. But few actually do anything other than write a check, if that. Jimmy is trying to make a difference for the people, wildlife and environment of the gulf. How about we concentrate on that and leave the political stuff aside? For those of you lucky enough to be able to attend this event, spend a little time talking to the folks who live and work in this region and find out how they are really being affected, then report back to us. We're a resourceful group, I bet we can find a way to help. Let's stop the bickering and blaming and find out what is *really* going on...and then do what we parrotheads do best: Party with a purpose. :D
Great response...I completely agree. I thought everyone was upset with BP. I was a little surprised to see people backing their political agendas. There is an entire region of our country in need. I think we should concentrate on helping and not discussing politics.
Yes BP is no angel. All seem to forget the Texas City refinery explosion to which there has been a virtual case study about regulatory compliance. I work in the energy biz. The problem with this current administration is their lack of cooperation with the state government in Louisiana. So add that with the current moratorium on deep water drilling, the current administration is directly impacting the economy from the Texas to Louisiana. Deep water drilling is producing 70% of the Gulf oil. That will rise to 90% in the near future. One of my best friend’s father works for a drilling company that was 30 miles from the BP well. He was sent to Africa a week ago and the workers below him laid off. A judge in New Orleans overturned the deep water ban and the current administration is fighting the ruling. The bottom line is the current administration is incompetent and would love $7 gas. Also fishermen are not getting paid in Louisiana. The current administration is supposed to be handling that with a trustee. I would come this weekend but I have other priorities.

Honestly? I don't think that too many people remember a explosion that happened in 1947. Or are you talking about the one in 2005?

Spoken so confidently that it must be fact. Thus no supporting reasoning is necessary.

One of my favorite quotes from Cactus Ed Abbey:

"One final paragraph of advice: do not burn yourselves out. Be as I am - a reluctant enthusiast....a part-time crusader, a half-hearted fanatic. Save the other half of yourselves and your lives for pleasure and adventure. It is not enough to fight for the land; it is even more important to enjoy it. While you can. While it’s still here. So get out there and hunt and fish and mess around with your friends, ramble out yonder and explore the forests, climb the mountains, bag the peaks, run the rivers, breathe deep of that yet sweet and lucid air, sit quietly for a while and contemplate the precious stillness, the lovely, mysterious, and awesome space. Enjoy yourselves, keep your brain in your head and your head firmly attached to the body, the body active and alive, and I promise you this much; I promise you this one sweet victory over our enemies, over those desk-bound men and women with their hearts in a safe deposit box, and their eyes hypnotized by desk calculators. I promise you this; You will outlive the bastards."
— Edward Abbey

I wouldn't say that the 100 post minimum is a "huge" requirement...
This comes from the same troll who said he didn't even know his own post count. What, now you're counting? There are OBVIOUSLY enough people here who have a different opinion than yours.

Will you people get off your thrones of "post counts" and years of posting to this board? I mean really, what does that mean. That you spend all day on the internet posting on a forum? Whoop Te Doo!
