need some tips for root beer floats..

I keep making them.. but I seem to get that nasty
foam on the top (and along the sides of the glass)

(I use warm root beer)
most of the time my Root Beer is Barqs
no set brand of Ice cream..

any tips??

No, sorry, but I'm interested if you find any!

I used a cold MexiCoke this evening, same thing- the ice cream was from a Costco trip and pretty soft- they were probably fairly close in temp. I think it just does that.

Amazingly enough though, I think they might taste better with corn syrup coke than the good stuff!

Try using a root beer made with real cane sugar. Usually in a bottle, and try using real ice cream, none of the cheap stuff, only the best.

It foams regardless of the temp or the kind of root beer (cane vs corn syrup) Something with the carbonation and the ice cream mixing together (does it on all other type of floats too)

Pour the root beer in first. Then drop in the ice cream. You get less foam that way. :pirate:

You can USE any type of drink. Try using orange Nehi soda - mmmmmmm or here in NC a local favorite is Cheerwine Floats....YUM......

OK will try on the Root Beer.. I have used up to and including 12 percent butterfat Ice Cream.. 8)

I wonder if part of it's not the warm root Beer..

wayne- my brother owns a diner/ice cream shop. It doesn't matter what kind of ice cream (we have 19% butterfat)...it's the carbonation causing the foam to kinda freeze up.....

They are THE BEST!!! :D :wench: :wink: And are the rare occasion that I will have ice cream. :D
