That much is KNOWN.
hmmm OK
Did you meet him or what?
I was also trying to figure out what happened to B & D. Their semi was down there. I can personally testify to that. Did not hear anything about it being borrowed.

I'm gonna step way out on a limb here and guess that in order to put the concert together on time they needed equipment. Equipment they didn't have close enough to the venue themselves so they asked around and found out who had what nearby and rented it or borrowed it from them.

Just curious, but do we know why they were 'announced' as coming but didn't make it in the end, especially considering they weren't announced until right before the show? I understand that things happen, but I was just curious why the last last minute change. lol
The order of the sleepless knights will now assume the throne
hmmmm... so after Jimmy boosts Alan Jackson's career with "Five O' Clock Somewhere", Alan is too good to make it to the Gulf Coast? ba$tard.
RR you may find some disagreement there...I don't think either needed a boost but if I had to be totally objective I think Jimmy benefited from the collaberation. It exposed him to a whole new generation of country fans...a generation who never heard of Jimmy Buffett...the "country singer".

He was kidding, R2 has a somewhat eccentric sense of humor at times.

I thought that had been determined on the first page as well.
Well...(said in my best Bubba voice) I've been on sabbatical.
While it probably would have been nice for B&D and AJ to be at Jimmy's show, he never promoted them, so no loss if they didn't show up. I know it would probably have been a stretch for B&D especially since RD has throat problems... AJ however really suprises me that he didn't show up (but maybe because of the political slant that the show was taking (intentional or otherwise), he felt it wasn't worth being involved and risking alienating some of his fanbase ???)
Edit.... besides their record label is really the one that has the say on their appearance, suprise or otherwise and it's likely that they put the kibosh on the whole thing....
I know that Jimmy made some statements in the week prior to the show but watching the show and listening to it on RM there was no political slant at all. Unless you count the tshirt someone held up that said BP blows and a few song lyrics changed.

I know, I figured he missed it. I always thought his reputation preceded him but I guess not

For those not at the show. The show went for around 30 minutes after the CMT broadcast. Without double checking the set list, I think Buffett played 5 more songs.

No really.... seriousy....
When Jimmy received the Grammy for 5 O'clock, he did SAY he was glad he could help Alan's struggling career
Alan Jackson would have been nice but I thought it was a good show anyway. It was nice that it was shown live on CMT. I won't be able to make it to a concert this year so at least I got to watch part of one on TV.

I'm glad Alan and B&D weren't there. It was an excellent show and I would have hated to see something changed. Okay, I could've done without BEG or CiP but we all know that ain't gonna happen.

I was stone cold sober (I swear!) And Alan Jackson did not perform at the concert. I have no idea where he was but I knew from the moment Mac started singing It's 5 o'clock somewhere that he wouldn't be on stage.
Life should NOT be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in an attractive and well preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways - Pinot Noir in one hand - chocolate in the other - body thoroughly used up, totally worn out, and screaming "WOO HOO"
