It was great seeing everyone, most of you again but some for the first time.

Thanks to Charlotte for the VIP pass. I gave my 2 extra tickets to 2 women who said they had 6 people in their group but only had 4 tickets. They asked me what I wanted for them and I said "the next time you hear someone complaining about how rude and obnoxious New Yorkers are, tell them we're not all like that." We are, but they don't know that.

Great show, even without the people who were originally supposed to be there. I missed Sonny Landreth but I'm not a big Kenny Chesney fan. (Is that an oxymoron? "Big" and "Kenny Chesney"?) Zac Brown has a few good songs but I'm not pitching a tent in my shorts waiting to see him play.

Will Kimbrough was on fire on the guitar, great to have him dueting with Jimmy on Nobody From Nowhere. Loved hearing Jesse Winchester do Rhumba Man. Allen Toussaint should be declared a national monument, he's that good. And he's such a classy man.

While he was doing it, I posted on Facebook "Great new version of When The Coast Is Clear." I'm not the sentimental type, but it was wonderful.

I've seen Buffett about 125 times now and at the end of the show I said I was going out on a limb, but this may have been the best show I've seen.

One of the rumors I heard was that Kid Rock was supposed to be there. I'm a little disappointed he didn't show up. How great would it have been to hear Kid and Jimmy doing Cadillac Pu**y or You Never Met A Mother F**ker Quite Like Me?

One last thing, I checked weather.com on my Blackberry during the show. It wasn't just hot, it was mother f**kin' hot. It was 94 and the heat index was 112.

Bye again

We just got back !!

Had never been to the gulf coast before.... ABSOLUTELY LOVED IT !!
Jimmy def accomplished what he set out to do... I would have never thought of Alabama for a beach vacation...BUt after the first night, I called my husband (who had stayed behind) and told him that we def need to take another trip to the Gulf Shores area before the summer is over ! We met the most amazing people, we were shocked at just how beautiful the beaches are, and had the time of our lives !

Thanks to my incredible teenagers we were able to be be front and center. The show was great, Jimmy was awesome, and the Parrotheads gave us memories to last a lifetime !

What did disappoint me was the fact that we were all down there to show support for the people of Gulf Shores, and our desire to keep the beach clean...and sadly the beach was covered in litter after the show. It would have been nice if the Parrotheads could have left the beach as clean and beautiful as they found it.

But other that, everything was great ! And as a bonus when we got home and watched the show on our dvr, we were shocked to see ourselves 3 times ! Yay CMT !!

I agree with the majority opinions shared in this thread.....that was one of the best JB concerts I've seen (unfortunately on TV & then heard on Radio Margaritaville). The gulf location was beautiful and the camera work excellent. The set list was perfect and, despite the lack of "big name" stars to accompany JB, the contributions of Toussaint, Kimbrough, and Winchester were real treats. Jimmy's "One Love, One Ocean" t-shirt looked great.

Jimmy sounded good (hey, he's 63.....) and had all of the energy we've come to expect from him. I really enjoyed the jab at BP in "Margaritaville" and the re-worded version of "When the Coast is Clear" to wrap up the televised portion. I loved the fact that he made sure that song was broadcast on TV and, yes, it did bring a tear or two to my wife and me while listening.....

Many BNers bemoan the fact the JB "only does covers" and doesn't write much of anything "original" any more. Well, that version of "Coast" is about as original and spot on as anything Jimmy has penned in a while. It made me even prouder to be a Parrothead.....

With such a wonderful show I have a feeling that a few more people were coverted to "Buffettism" on Sunday night, too. So, thanks Jimmy and to all of the performers and people that made the Gulf Shores concert such a success. I'm hoping that whole show is released as a CD/DVD for the benefit of the gulf coast as well.

It was certainly a great way to unwind after a long weekend. I agree, the camera work was awesome. Seeing all the people on the beach and showing the crowd actually singing the songs proved to me that fans actually got to go.

Jimmy...what can I say. He sounded great and looked like he was having a great time. When the Coast is Clear was a perfect choice for the 1st encore and was great way to end the TV version. I was having issues with the RM feed, so I am looking forward to hearing the whole show (thanks again SL!). He is such a great writer. There aren't too many entertainers that have songs that hold up this well overtime AND still sound great.

Congrats to everyone that were able to pull it off. Sorry the original line up didn't pan out, it would have been great to see him with ZBB again. Awesome show nonetheless.

I got back last night and slept for 11 hours straight. Wow was I tired.

The concert was great. Amazing sound system and Jimmy and the gang fantastic. I'm still on a Buffett high. Everyone had a great time. I never saw anybody getting ugly or beligerent. That many parrotheads, hot weather, $6 Landshark, non fans hoping to see somebody besides Jimmy and everybody piled on top of each other I was worried. I think we had a lot of people convert over to being parrotheads at this deal. Yay! :D And I think this has given all the businesses a real boost.

It was HOT. I'm from Alabama and think that was hot. Like make your heart beat funny kinda hot. 8)

A lot has been written about some of Jimmy's comments, some are troubling, (the Dixie Chick syndrome) and sometimes you get tired of defending his right to free speech. This past weekend in Gulf Shores, Alabama, we were all witnesses to the passion and love of Jimmy Buffett, for the Ocean, his fans, and the Beaches he grew up loving. You can learn a lot about people in times of stress. The oil spill is a little overwhelming for those of us that live here, especially when you see the Gifts that Mother Nature has supplied being taken away. The atmosphere on the Beach was electric even in dire conditions (hot, hot, hot). When Jimmy walked out, you could see the purpose and drive in his performance, he was into it as were the Reefers, especially Mac. They were going to make people happy, show the Country what was here, and display his fame that not many fully understand. When Jimmy has a party, even with 110 degree heat index, with restricted tickets,. everyone shows up. It could have been a 100,000, after all we all are insane. The songs were never better, the band was fantastic, after all we were on the Beach, and Buffett was live! Probably the moment of the night for most including me, was When The Coast is Clear was delivered. It was one of those moments where you could hear the quiet coming, the song was powerful and when Jimmy said the Gulf was in his Soul, there were many wet eyes around. It was a rare moment where the Song was bigger than the singer. True to Jimmy's style. after CMT signed off, he continued to deliver, song after song, you can tell a lot about a person in times of stress. I got to meet some cool BN people and they were very special and kind, fitting for a Sunday with Buffett. Wish you could all have been there, but you were in spirit for sure.

We are all ready looking at booking a house for next summer for a week or two for a outing... What a great area with kind folks that smiled, said thanks for being there. We spent a couple of days just out on the beach, then spent a couple of really helping the economy.. I now have at least 5 new Golf Visors and 10 tee shirts or so. Do not want to talk about what all we bought at the Tommy Bahama Outlet mall... Christmas for some friends was took care...

Overall great time with good friends and some new friends..

Glad all the rumor's turned out to be rumors, the show was awesome. Hope everyone made it home safe, we drove our 1002 miles with breaks in 16 1/2 hour's. Got in last night around midnight...

Time to mow the lawn, TAKE CARE.

I had the best time EVER!!!!!!!!!

I still can't think clearly 'cause I've only had about 4 hours sleep but I know I saw something the likes of which we may never see again........ 8) Jimmy's love for this area came through over and over with each song and for that reason I think it was one of his best concerts ever! :D
Life should NOT be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in an attractive and well preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways - Pinot Noir in one hand - chocolate in the other - body thoroughly used up, totally worn out, and screaming "WOO HOO"

No doubt! When we got there, we were super close to the stage. It was just too hot with the stage blocking the wind and we had to move. We ended watching from near the big screen on the beach side of the stage where we could at least feel some wind.

Everyone there that I saw was extremely cordial and nice, not what I expected when they opened the gates.

I've been saying for years that I was going to see Jimmy Buffett on a beach somewhere before I died and there was no way I was missing that concert! It was AWESOME!!!

Always do, CNF! :D But, I also enjoy more than just the beaches in Gulf Shores/Orange Beach. There are a lot of other 'little' things that make the time I spend there even more special, I just love the area period and will most likely be heading back down there in September. :D
