WWL used JB's bit from Margaritaville "It's all BP's fault" from the concert to talk about the meeting/oil commission in New Orleans that started Monday and their figuring out what happened. "Jimmy Buffett said it", Bob DelGiorno said. "There's nothing left to say."

And then he played it again!

I'm really glad to hear people say they will come back. The show did what it was supposed to. On your return be sure to check out Pensacola Beach as well. We are also in need of some stimulus. A great and cheap festival is taking place there in October called the Deluna Fest. Unfortunately, Jimmy won't be there. But you guys should come down for the heck of it. And we all know it is just a matter of time Mr. Buffett will be playing in Pcola, just waiting for the right time I suppose.

As for the Gulf Shores event - best Buffett show I've been to. And he has had some great ones during Jazz Fest in N'awlins. But, the energy and purpose behind this one pushed it over the top. Thanks, not only to the Buffett crew but the Hangout as well. They are doing some great things around these parts. Hopefully, this becomes a regular stop for the tour. We've been neglected for too long.

Joe if your a golfer then this is a part of your trip planning you sure do not need to overlook. The Robert Trent Jones Golf Trail. You can stop and take breaks by playing on some seriously nice courses as you work your way down the State.

For anyone planning to head to the gulf coast.....

I'd suggest checking out my favorite little piece of heaven:

http://www.navarrechamber.com/

Navarre Beach, FL (just across the bridge from Navarre, FL.)

It's actually an island with a bridge on each end. Quiet, open beaches, way fewer tourists than Destin or PCB. Less than 15 miles to the M'ville Hotel, and 8 of those miles go through a sugar-sand federal park preserve. Waves on one side of the road, the calm-water sound on the other.

We just got back and I can't wait to go again. They say there are a few tarballs, but we never noticed them. Water was beautiful (if a little rough during our stay this time - red flags.) If you want details on where we stayed, etc, shoot me a PM.

Actual view from our balcony....

Unfortunately I was there and I was not proud to be a parrothead. I was proud of Jimmy for keeping politics out of the show. I was proud of my BN friends old and new. Don't get me wrong - the weekend was fun and the show itself was magical. The best show I have ever been to. I hugged Renee and cried as he sang "When the Coast is Clear". It truly was a very special moment. But after the show...when the light came up - I was sick to my stomach. The beach was trashed. I don't mean to beat a dead horse...but my memory is now tainted by the vision of all of those empty beer cups and water bottles ALL OVER THE BEACH! It sickened me that THIS would be the last memory that many would have of "parrotheads". I know- I know- we see it in parking lots all the time. But this was different. Very different. This was the beach...the very beach that we are fighting to save. I picked up what I could and yelled for others to do the same. Some young girl snarked, "they have machines to do that" and a older man said "well they are paying people who need jobs to do this". Yea.....THAT makes a difference...

Yes, I am embarrassed, saddened, and disheartened -

Unfortunately the same impression was left on St Barths last November. They were still cleaning it up the next day, disgusting.

You were disheartend not by parrotheads but rather by the unwashed masses. I ate a going away late lunch at the oyster house yesterday. While I was "cruising the gift shop" I overheard one of the waitresses telling another one how much better "Buffett-heads" tipped.
We came, we saw, we partied, we laughed, we cried (well maybe some of yall did) we got tore up from the floor up and then we threw down. I hauled my cups and burger wrappers to the cans and even went so far as to try and figure out which went in what for recycling. You were right and they were right, they do pay people to clean it up. Each person has to do what they feel is best.
Thank you for coming and thank you for caring. It meant a lot to my neighbors down there.

Yep, I explained to one woman that her blanket on the sand was covered in sand and she forgot to bring the guardrails to her personal crib (no she didn't have a child she was just acting like a baby). Just another one of the unwashed masses.

And just like every other concert you've been to, you think the entire audience "gets it"? I gotta believe that the ones who do were the ones who filled up the trash cans and the dumpsters; the ones who didn't are just like the 20k out 30k at Alpine who are there because they feel the need to spend the day drinking to the point of stupidity "because it's Buffet, an' he does that drinking song"; on comp tickets or tickets they paid some scalper an arm and a leg for because "it's THE event to be seen at" and brag to the folks at work on Monday so they think they have cool points.

If you want to be annoyed, saddened, disgusted, etc., be annoyed and the like at the folks who just showed up to use the occasion of a major event as an excuse to get pants-$hi..ing, bladder-emptying-inside-the-pants drunk on the beach. It wasn't parrotheads making that mess.
